It’s not hard to understand really. The fan run guys have been calling for Pruitts head for a while now. State run still carries water for him, for the most part. My guess is Tennessee gon Tennessee and there are still power struggles internally, so someone leaked this to the ones they knew would throw it out there for all to see. Just speculating, but someone(somebodies)of power in the Tennessee athletics department wants Pruitt gone and this is taking the easy way out.I'm really trying to understand why it was leaked to Trey Wallace of all people.
Some good talent. The team is just not on the same page out there. Coaching is the problem. Needs to be fixed.I really want football to be fun again. We have some good players that need a spark. We can compete for the east next season. UT recruits well enough to crush the patsies and get an upset or two. Tired of the youth , covid, and other bs excuses the last three coaches have used. Get a coach that can truly own that the state of the program is his and his alone. Buck stops here kinda guy.
-HubbsSomeone who wins. I know that sounds contrite and no crap, but honestly, I'm at the point just bring a guy in who can win. I don't care what his offensive philosophy or defensive philosophy is. What coaching tree he's from or whatever. Just someone who can win.
If there's a chance, I'm sure Billy Napier, Jamie Chadwell will be on the list. I think it will be a guy with head coaching experience.
With an investigation on going can you bring Freeze in given he left Ole Miss on probation? I don't know.
The other factor is who is making the decision. Is Fulmer making the hire? Is it a committee with a guy like Peyton heavily involved. I'm not sure how that would work if there is an opening.
I like James Franklin. He makes 5.4 or 5.5 million a year at Penn State and his buyout is 5 million. Pretty expensive. What about his predecessor Bill O'Brien, he's unemployed. Does he want in the college game or is he trying to get another NFL job?
Then there's Gus Malzahn.
Iowa State...Iowa freakin State.Syracuse was the worst team in their conference foe like 5 years before he got there and he won a conference championship with them in year 4.
O’Brien took over following THE worst scandal in college football history.
Matt Campbell is like 34-28 at Iowa St. but most people agree that he would be a great hire.
It's funny a large group of UT fans dream of Peyton coaching here someday.... Everyone else thinks Peyton is GM/ownership material. I'm not sure id like him as an employee of UT but if he had to be I'd rather see him as an AD here than a coach.I say let Peyton run the coaching search. Let him hand pick someone. That also guarantees Arch comes hopefully. As we all know, great QB play is the most important part of the game these days.
