Coaching Search 2020 is nearly upon us.

Thread is getting pretty busy and hard to keep up with. What's LWS saying?

Lots of coaches want nothing to do with the SEC, especially when it's Tennessee. They don't want the challenge of playing GA, FL, and Bama every year. Not to mention the cross game every year. It's easier to succeed in other conferences.

It's amazing seeing the disagreement on here about coaches.

Someone says Freeze, someone else says "no way!"

Someone says Franklin is a home run, another says "Heck no on Franklin!"

Go down the list and you find this about everyone. There's even been people saying no way on Meyer and Campbell. Just funny to see.

I would take Gus if our first handful of guys say no. I don't think he'll do great things here if he couldn't recapture the magic at Auburn. I know enough Auburn people to see the future on this board and all of the things that make them pull their hair out would send this place into a frenzy.

Do I expect a championship from the man no unless he gets guys that can coach and recruit at a high level. He gives the image of Tennessee a face the SEC can respect and wins to match. Tennessee could do a lot worse than Gus some folks should really reconsider Gus.

It would've been this year

Gus was in the strongest division in all of college football and never had a losing season. He's proven he can win in the SEC. We need a proven winner right now.

Gus makes too much sense. We need to get to a spot where we can consistently win 8 games, and that will make this job much more attractive. Gus will do that easily, maybe even sprinkle in a couple east titles and a playoff appearance.

People are again overestimating the draw of UT these days. Are people forgetting the last search?

Gus gives Tennessee a guy the SEC can respect and a good number of wins each season. If he wants to come to Tennessee you take him.

He would do better than that in year 1. In year 3 if Saltor stayed around we would be in the conversation for Atlanta. Saltor fits Gus's offense well.

You may be right but if Gus found Barnes type success not a sole would be upset

I don’t know if it’s true, but I kind of like the old money vs new money angle for entertainment purposes.

Kinda got a Lucky Luciano feel to it.

This makes so much sense that only Tennessee could F it up.

The reality is they are all better than Pruitt our fan base is just dumb

Meyer just turned down 7 years/$84 million at Texas. Campbell would only come here if he were offered silly money too. Tennessee doesn't do that.

Not really when it comes to Tennessee. We play Bama every year and FL and GA are close to the other top teams in the west. Pretty equal IMO.

Just speculating, but someone(somebodies)of power in the Tennessee athletics department wants Pruitt gone and this is taking the easy way out.

Perfect example of a guy Gus could build around and have a lot of success.
