He fired Holly from women's basketball, all in all shes a TN legend and made it to multiple elite 8, and won multiple SEC championships. But she wasn't winning National tittles or making final fours. That's the Lady Vols standard. It's crazy to me he can make that move but wants 3-7 Pruitt back. Just what the hell
The difference is he didn't hire Holly.

That is the passionate fan in you talking...... they paid 1.5 mill to bring Chaney to Tennessee....they brought in ainsley one of the most well thought of young coaches out there.... in fact in 2019 tennessee had the second highest paid assistant staff in the country....I have no doubt Tennessee would fire Pruitt in a second if they thought someone like nick Saban was walking though that door....The closest thing to a homerun available is Hugh Freeze but he is unethical as they come and really bad at being unethical.

I would, personally, still move on but I typically am bad at winning also..... I was 100% sold on Pruitt being that guy...... I was 100% wrong in my original assessment of him as a coach.

I'm not saying there isn't some people that want to win. But you will not convince anyone that "EVERYONE" cares about winning and everyone is pulling in the same direction in the sake of winning. It just isn't happening.

I wish the "waiting to fire with cause" excuse would go away. That just simply isn't the case. They may still fire him but this is an internal tug of war. Jmo

Fulmer got fired once before for poor performance on the football field and holding on to coaches too long.

It’s just really odd because he has done so well with the other sports on campus. He’s too close to football and has a huge blind spot.
Has he though? Boyd is the reason Barnes is here. Not Fulmer.

It definitely didn’t hurt with Tyndall, who we also gifted a 10 year show cause out the door, and hiring Rick Barnes.

I think Pruitt should be fired for winning the fewest games in a season since 1924, but the for cause thing isn’t going to hurt us.
did DT get any buyout $?

Understand. But the majority of people would of given him a pass on that hire considering the circumstances. Especially if we brought in a big name this time around. I don't just see why stubborness is worth tarnishing your legacy.

Swain is making some good points on firing Pruitt with cause. Thinks its potentially a bad look for interested coaches if you don't pay Pruitt on the way out.
That’s an easy fix for new coaches don’t cheat and get caught and still suck ass and you won’t get fired with cause.

I don't think this can be said enough. I'm sick of hearing the COVID excuses when literally every other team had to deal with it this year.
I agree but Tennessee did have a stricter contact tracing policy to deal with..... wanya Morris misses 3-4 weeks or more without ever being positive for covid.

Even if you don’t want Freeze. The floor of this hire is Napier or Chadwell. I’ll take that any day of the week over keeping Pruitt. The 2022 class is a class we can’t miss on. Retaining Pruitt and having a bad season, loses those recruits and we are screwed. It could be viewed in the same light as not getting Lawrence and Etienne. We can’t afford to not lock this state up.

Yeah there's no way to become a fan for another team. I'm a fan of the sport. I watch a lot of football and I can root for other teams in games or root against other teams but become a fan of another team? No. Tennessee fandom for a lot of us isn't surface level. It's entrenched on a psychological level. We've been indoctrinated since we were old enough to say, "Go Vols".

I didn't choose to be a Tennessee fan. It was chosen for me a long time ago and even though times have been tough I have been actively bringing my children into the fold. I may grow apathetic. I may not yell at the tv quite so much as a season of poor showing progresses but I am a fan and will always be.
This is where I'm at too.

I agree with moving on regardless..... I just understand some of the hesitation of going through the process of bringing in another lower level coach....

I know nothing..
but let's be real.. poot wants out and knows he's done. TN doesn't want the stench of the NCAA hanging around. Sexton is negotiating his buyout right now and this all goes away once funeral things are done.
If I had to hedge my bet, there's a settlement in place tomorrow around 6 million, NCAA thing just goes away, and we're announcing a new coach January 1
And if he fights the investigation details will trickle out and he will get fired for cause. It's A win win for a settlement. I think this is the way it will play out as well.
