If we can keep some of these 5 stars for at least 2 seasons, the basketball team will be special for a long time......i don’t like the 1 and done stuff at all.
Well its probably going to happen. Last mock I saw had Keon at #7 and Jaden at #17. TBH though the one and gone aren't the biggest issue its the core around them. Guys like Fulky and Bailey who provide leadership. Thats why UK is struggling this year they don't have a leader, most years at least one of the freshman is an alpha, but I don't see on this year for Cal.

As much as I love a cult like coach search obsession (as you can see from my Avi), I don't really understand the Freeze thing so much. At least with Gruden you could hype him up because it was unknown what he would do in college. Hugh Freeze has been around the block and has never been what he's being made out to be around here.

The obsession seems to have three ingredients:

Beat Saban.

Beat Saban again the next year.
Rumblings of TN being his dream job.

Take away either of those wins or the unconfirmed rumor and no one here is even aware Hugh Freeze is still coaching football.

and he did that while at Ole Miss

The key words there are "given time". Nobody gets time here. We run em' out after 3 or 4 years and rinse and repeat.
That part is true to a point, but I just don't think we would look this incompetent in year three under Campbell. If Pruitt had won the Arky, Kentucky and Awbarn games he would not be in this shape. Sticking with JG and not having another QB ready doomed him to hated status.

Or on the flip. Fulmer fighting for Pruitt and the extra money he has pushed toward football have them more interested than before.
I'm startimg to think the reason Phil is fighting so hard for Pruitt is that they're so alike. Phil is a legend in his own mind so he naturally thinks Pruitt will be.

Keeping Pruitt would be as catastrophic as SC keeping muschamp. They ended up signing one of the worst recruiting classes in SEC history and Beamer is putting together a very meh staff
Well SC cares about winning. They’ve been better than us the last ten years, made a final 4 in b-ball, won a baseball championship. They’re a superior sports program.

This thing has come full circle in the past 12 years.

2008: The game has passed CPF up. We need a coach with offense philosophy first.

2017: I’m sorry CPF, save us from the HOH. Go out and find us a FOOTBALL coach that runs the power game and has a defense first philosophy. Look at Saban, Defense wins championships.

2020: I’m sorry HOH. Please save our program from CPF. We need a coach that score points, it’s a offense first game now, even Saban knows that.
Fulmer around the program in any decision making capacity was always a bad idea after he was fired. I was relieved when Cutcliffe wasn’t hired after Kiffin (bad call) because it would give Fulmer access, and was glad Fulmer wasn’t hired as AD (not that I was excited about Currie).

I respect that he loves the university, but he has been compensated handsomely for that love. But he’s never been a good idea as an administrator.

Jesse Simonton has “writer/podcaster” for hire in his twitter bio.

Good thing he moved to New York. Heard there’s a shortage of writers there.

Green, Brooks, Lewis all sign last week if he had won UK/Arky. imo.
