Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

This is crazy talk. He lost to Georgia state and BYU last year and beat a bunch of sorry teams. No one said he should be coach of the year. Do us all a favor and leave this site.
Not true. A lot of folks, especially on this site, were drinking the cool aid and saying Pruitt should be coach of the year. Of course none of you sheep will admit it, but it happened.

Well, I'm 60 pages behind, but here is a stream of consciousness before I head off to work that will probably be passed over, but let me just think out loud.

1. I'm 100% out on Pruitt. He doesn't have what it takes.
2. I don't hate Pruitt. He has tried to grow into a head coach and has not. He has worked hard but is too stubborn to grow beyond where he is now. I can relate to this, so I sympathize with his ignorance. Never hate a man who gives everything he has but doesn't have enough. He just needs to move on to what he CAN do effectively, not be emasculated.
3. I fully support Pruitt. This is conducive to my happiness. If he pulls a rabbit out of his hat, I am happy for him to continue. I'd rather win than lose, and my feelings and support have no effect on wins nor losses, so let's go.
4. I would still much rather have a new coach, because see point #1.
5. Maybe he has reached a turning point at a coach. This is the point of "hope" for me as a fan. I don't believe it, but maybe it is so. Steele is here and if Garner comes that is a dynamic recruiting staff. I wish the offense could get sorted out.
6. Pruitt deserved to be fired for performance but completely got the shaft from the administration regarding this investigation. This stuff goes on everywhere, and everyone knows it. Our admin had the nerve to take a half measure of full public investigation but won't take the full measure needed of cutting ties. He is severely hamstrung as a coach and didn't really deserve this. Now, a failing coach has had his legs cut out from under him and is told to "carry on." BS on our Admin, and shame on them. Full measure or no measure... never a half measure.
7. Niedermeyer will be paid handsomely under the table to keep quiet and he will be done with coaching. He is not a good coach. He was a bag man. Now that he has soiled that part of his value, no one will ever touch him again. I suspect he will have opportunities from Tennessee sources to pursue a career in another field, but maybe I don't read that correctly.

Just a few thoughts this AM. Have a great day folks. Time to go squat and then be an adult and work.

Spot on. Good post.

I take all of this to mean we still have people who want different things that are still fighting. Why can't we have a leader that brings everyone together???

I believe that academic people want UT to be good at sports but that's not their main focus. I don't live in Tennessee, haven't for 25 years but I'm a huge fan of the Big Orange, so I don't have a dog in this hunt.
It appears UT is gonna keep trotting out this brand of football because the fan base has always continued to support it no matter how bad it is. That's not gonna change until the fan base unites and says "enough is enough". If you want their attention, figure out a way to empty the stadium on game day. There's power in numbers people. Stay away from the stadium. They'll get the message.

Funny how a lot of volunteer fans this time last year were saying he should be named coach of the year and after a rough year impacted by corona, he’s now doo doo. We’ll get back on track this year. When we do, a lot of folks will owe ol stud an apology.
I have no idea who was talking about him being coach of the year.
It certainly wasn't me.
Pruitt has the coaching ability of a used toilet.

I definitely remember seeing it posted here by some, Once we went on that streak. Said he should be second after Orgeron for SEC coach of the year.

Why are you telling people about the Cape? We like the peacefulness! I have gone to the Cape almost every year for the past 35 years. We rent a house or condo on the beach and always have a great time. Of course, I also eat a meal or two at the Raw Bar at Indian Pass. We were there in August 2020 and was glad to see the Raw Bar finally reopened after the last water damage.
Raw bar was closed when we went from hurricane damage. Unfortunate because we were staying in a house 1/2 mile from it.

I'm lucky if I remember last week, forget about last year. But I'm certain I never said he should be coach of the year.

Lol hear you but it’s bad PR when it’s being reported nationally that your HC fate is in the air and no statement from the AD/admin saying anything to clear the air. That’s why I made that statement.
Don't get me wrong, I agree. There should've been some kind of statement days ago. They are literally sitting back and watching sh!t burn.. At this point, It wouldn't bother me to see EVERYONE fired and a TOTAL program reset done.. I honestly believe that would give fans more hope than almost anything they can scrape together from this fiasco....

Given that Maine Lobster and Alaskan crabs are cold water creatures, it’s not surprising that you couldn’t get them fresh in a small town on the Gulf of Mexico.
buddy is a Chef, er was. Says most our fresh Seafood in US comes from Louisiana, save local shrimp or oysters. Most aficionados know when they go to market what the differences are. I dont.

Sometimes local market gets fresh caught snapper, grouper, or Cobia. If what my friend says holds true, then 'fresh' may mean a few days old.

Yep. It’s funny how we have people who pretend like they’ve had Pruitt figured out all along. Nobody was on that band wagon at all after we had won 6 straight and recruiting was hot. They can’t see the forest for the trees.

Ill support them. Good job, atta boy, etc. But, will be from a distance. This has been a black eye on University.

With that said, i'm largely becoming disengaged from CFB. Same teams keep winning, and the war beat of 'parity' really just means as long as checks are good wgas.

When a school has an ongoing investigation, it seldom releases updates or announcements. Everything goes through legal, and legal keeps it buttoned up. Hence the "no comment" responses from the Chancellor and AD to media requests. UT has commented twice-- and both have been what you'd expect in this situation.

I'm not sure who you used to be on here, but I'm guessing I liked that persona better.

So soon...lol. Just messing with you. I hope you and the family are well LA and I know it gets said a lot but we appreciate the information you bring to this board.

The thing I remember is people being afraid he was going to leave us. 😂

Doesn't get much better than fresh caught blackened Cobia. That and Triggerfish.
