I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why they think the Tennessee athletic department would go after Kiffin. He gets brought up continuously, but I can't see that happening unless he has done something to make them think he is an option. I am not talking about tweeting things to get the Tennessee fans all aflutter. And why would he want to come back here? At Ole Miss the fans expect less. He can steadily build his reputation back up to where he is wanted by the big time jobs. He didn't exactly have many willing to take a chance on him except Ole Miss. Unless he has a soft spot for Tennessee and feels guilty about what he did.
They won’t

I feel like there needs to be a lot of context placed into this.

2018 - coming off a 4-8 Season where Butch Jones was fired and lost every single SEC game. First year of the early signing period where Pruitt was hired days before the signing period and was still coaching at Alabama.

2019 - Jeremy Pruitts first true Recruiting class

2020 - COVID happened.
Remove the last point from your list. Covid happened to every team.

Bruin, if you're fine with being in the same category with the lower half of the league then I guess he's a good defensive coordinator. There is zero elite about Jeremy Pruitt. His stats, that you provided back that up. If he's in the middle, that means there are 6-7 better.
I feel he had us headed toward an elite defense...... I don’t hold last year against him.... you obviously do...... we will see if he can get it done.

I love how folks do everything in their power on here to discredit anything positive that guys like Fulmer and Chavis did in their careers. Talking about guys who dedicated a large part of their adult lives to this university, and had a lot of success doing it.

Not dragging them down. I’ll always be a fan of Fulmer and Chavis. And although I do not think that great coaches forget to coach over night, I do think some fail to adapt to changes in the game. I think the same issues that got Fulmer ousted as HC are still there as AD: failure to adapt to changes in the game and a tendency to stick with underperforming personnel way too long. Letting Slade stick around did a lot to tarnish Chief’s reputation IMO.

College sir

I did watch bama and all of their opponents yea I did
There’s honesty no point in comparing anyone to bama. They are on a different level than everyone else. Clemson had the QB of the generation in some peoples eyes and bama completely ran the team that destroyed Clemson.

Until saban retires there’s no point. They may lose a game here and there but no one is beating them unless they have an off game and everyone else has their A+++

There's bad defenses and then there are bad defenses. This past years defense was one rung above the Sunseri defense. He's never had to field a defense with average talent. His success has been built on the backs of five star players. That's ok if you can recruit at that level but he can't do that at TN.
Didn't we also allow something like 48% conversion on third down?

You need to get a grip brother. Average DC? I guess that’s why Fisher, Richt and Saban hired him to run their defenses. Pruitt has mad respect from a defensive standpoint amongst those in the coaching community.
You need to get your head out of the sand. Year three and getting blown out of our own stadium by the likes of Kentucky. I can understand being beat early in the year by a simple slant but by game three you should have corrected it. FLorida was continuously beating us on the same slant that every team prior had continuously beat us on. He never got his players in position to take the slant away, never.

All the aforementioned teams had/have elite players. That's the only way he can look good. He sucks as a DC.

Consider the source of the argument

I think A&M, Georgia and bama had decent defenses.

The rest of the league was bad and all very close to each other. Put them in a hat and mix them up.

I hope defenses makes a comeback but I doubt it. If that’s the case I don’t think worrying about that side of the ball is productive and we need to focus on offense. That’s where we are clearly at the bottom of the league
