Built an electrolysis tank for this rifle I’m restoring. It’s a MAS 36 Santa Fe Sporter. It was really rusty. Never fooled with an E tank before. That stuff has to be witch craft or some sort of gypsy magic. The rust just fell right off and boom, rifle looked like new.

Twice I’ve decided to find the world’s greatest internet “guru” on a subject and it’s turned out to be somebody I know. Such was the case with electrolysis chemistry. I went looking for an explanation years ago and found one by Bill Tindall and Spencer Hochstetler. They were both electrochemists at Eastman who I knew. I've got an old lock I found on my property that I'd like to try that with. And a 1910 bolo knife/machete as well. How difficult was it?

Forgot to take pics from before. It had a lot of surface rust. Like the entire barrel was a solid orange but the rust wasn’t really deep. Here’s what it looks like now.
