Thanks!Direct transcript:
Host: "Signs in terms of Steel being hired, in terms of him traveling across the country to recruit his own team, he gets a transfer from Auburn, do those signs point to him being back?"
Hyams: "I dont. No, I think that Pruitt believes hes coming back, and hes working and coaching as if hes coming back. He also went to see Crouch before he saw HT, so he is working as though he is the coach and believes that he is gonna be there. But I dont necessarily think thats whats gonna happen. John, we did a show last Saturday and I got a call right after and this guy said youre wrong about Pruitt not being able to hire anyone, theyre going to be able to hire one coach, Steele, but they can't fill out anyone else. I said why? He said because he wants to build the bridge in case they end up firing Pruitt."
Did jimmy also say, “what if plowman and Boyd sent Pruitt to Cali to get him out of the office so they could work on a buyout”?Direct transcript:

This would really grind my gears. Fulmer gets his 2nd choice from his 1st coaching search. In 3 more years when Steele would get the axe I guess we could look forward to Mel Tucker.Afraid KS may already be in place, and there won't be a coaching search. But we have already thoroughly completed the search anyway unless some unknown names come up.
Well, if it is truly interim while they search for a good coach, and the players are okay with that without a mass exodus then that would be the best we could hope for in this horrific situation. This would really grind my gears. Gilbert is an elite talent. Pope is not. Theres the difference. Is it knocking him by saying he's not a huge asset to this team? No one on this board was just all up in arms of him leaving. Now he decided he wants to come back and he's the best blocking te in TN history. He very well may be a great kid and I've said nothing detrimental to him personally.
Also, no need to try to take personal shots at me. I'm completely happy with my job. No need to look around when I'm my own boss.
It will be a dagger to my heart if they fire Pruitt only to make Steele the HC.

The problem with that scenario is what if Steele as an interim lucks into a halfway decent season? The the AD wants to take off that interim tag and hands him the reins, and I in no way think Steele is the answer. He's more of the same. If we have to get this hire right, which is what people keep saying, then there is no way you can convince me that Steele is the right person for the job. But I can almost guarantee you Fulmer will be looking for a reason to make it permanent. It would not be fun if permanent but Josh Pate at 247 threw out a scenario the other day that I didn’t think was the worst idea. He leans Pruitt is out. He feels you can’t miss this one and you have to hit it big. So if you can’t find the guy now does it then make you consider making Steele interim for upcoming season and give yourself an entire year to find the right guy. I don’t like it but always don’t want to hire just to hire. Also wouldn’t shock me if a Phil took over and had steee as DC and kept chaney
