From the podcast this AM:

"Rob it's gonna be fascinating whenever the document dump happens--and everybody's requested it--of what all exactly is found. And what the Level 1, the Level 2's are, and the alleged infractions that I'm told...I think we're all told...is somewhere in the dozens, maybe approaching 50 is a possibility."

I didn’t say they wouldn’t do anything, but I don’t think we’re going to get hit as hard as a lot of people think.

Within 2 months of discovery, we completely investigated the situation, internally and externally, reported to the SEC and NCAA, and fired everyone involved. If the NCAA comes in after that and says, “Nevertheless, bend over...” who’s going to ever accurately and thoroughly self-report again? I mean, why would you? You’d be better off just hoping no one ratted on you, because it would be the same punishment either way.

I wasn't disagreeing. I agree with the assessment, I was just offering the counterpoint that the NCAA is really obligated to do something, but in the interesting of encouraging honesty, it most certainly has to be lighter than it might be.

Just like dealing with kids: "You're in trouble. How much trouble depends on whether you're honest about it."

If they go fishing and no upper tier coach bites, do you let Steele interim next season to let the smoke die down? I say that because I think that's what is about to happen. Recruiting that '22 class will be all but impossible. That early signing period hurts us yet again but you can't make a hurried hire for one recruiting class.

I'm not in love with Chadwell, probably never will be but I like Carter. He's done well at ETSU
I like him a lot.... young cocky....native Tennessean( not important but nice when it’s already a coach you like)......innovative offenses......great locker room celebrations.... I think he could win here with the right staff.

I don't understand the fascination of Chadwell...We need a name that will bring excitement and energy. A young gun who had one really good season at Coastal Carolina and lost every bowl/playoff game he's been too doesn't do it for me.
3-3 in playoffs, 1-1 in bowl games and almost whipped liberty this year.

No. That would be more catastrophic. What candidates would emerge that isn't there now? We have options. No sense in it given the options we have.

Kiffin staying is understandable
Herman is unemployed
Freeze status won't change now vs next year
Chadwell won't change now to next year
Napier won't be here today or next year. He think too highly of himself.
Gus is unemployed
Fisher is unemployed
BOB would rather be an OC and than head coach? Doubt it.
Marrone is unemployed

The pool is set up nicely for Tennessee to not fk this up.

The only thing that matters is if we're going to get hit with something so severe that it limits the coaching pool.

My guess is yes.

It really depends on what the NCAA has. The scope is not good. The NCAA has limited resources, so a lot of times they just take another look at the findings provided by the school. Since UT has already led parallel investigations, re-investigated by outside counsel, this is the hope. But sometimes, the NCAA opts to punish the wrongdoing instead of rewarding the school for self-reporting-- especially when they find the violations extensive and egregious.

Which is my point, they all came out OK. UT did the right thing, you get hammered when you lie to the NCAA. Ole Miss had 15 level 1 violations. This isn't dooms day for Tennessee
They fought hard against the NCAA which is my point.... Tennessee is bending over..... when you bend over then you get it worse from what I have witnessed.

I just don’t think that’s a winning formula. Throw a match on the 2021 class, not 2022. I guess it depends on what you see as the tiers. I’d rather Chadwell or Marrone get to work right now than wait a year for Neal Brown to.

It’s just hard for me to see interest from quality candidates in late 2021 being any stronger. And unless we hire a coach who isn’t sitting, well have another very short ESD to work with.

Who knew we’d become Lenoir-Rhyne West?

Really happy to see Napier at the top of that list because he seems to have become the forgotten man around here. Still can’t believe we can’t money whip a guy making under $1 million to come to Knoxville.

Interesting to see Freeze that high up while Kiffin and Steele are that far down.
