The only thing that matters is if we're going to get hit with something so severe that it limits the coaching pool. The scope of the violations is as significant as the number. It will be interesting to see what they reported, how it was framed and how far back they go. And if the NCAA pushes it a bit more or is content to stick with what UT reported.
I don't want him as a coach here either, but the fact that he's an a-hole is absolutely not a disqualifier. I guess it depends on what kind of a-hole he is. In O'Brien's case, he appeared to piss off a bunch of his own players with the GM decisions he made; that's not the a-hole you want. It seemed like a similar deal with Chip Kelly in the NFL.I hear you. I just think him getting fired and forced out of Houston despite winning a lot is a big red flag. Not a ton of nice things about him came out of there.
He could be exactly what we need though. I don't know the guy. I just think these red flags will probably reveal themselves down the line. If not right away.
He will probably hide away at Bama and be labeled a genius again within 3 years.
We could probably do much worse. But man it would feel like a missed opportunity to me if that's where we land.
They have to do something. If the school doesn't bear some responsibility, there is zero disincentive for hiring dirty coaches. I'm sure it will be far less than it would have been if NCAA was the one leading the investigation.
Gilbert is more of a Barnes guy while Ingram is more of a Peyton guy. Right now, Barnes has the image and stability Plowman would like to emulate and he's vouching for Gilbert.
Baylor fired Briles and turned the program upside downSo you used the three places that fought like h$ll to cover up their transgressions as examples of being open and investigating themselves.....
