I tend to believe in consistency among coaching lists - if someone is repeated over and over, it's likely to be a solid pick as a legitimate candidate. Dooley in 2010 and Schiano in 2017 come to mind.

After pouring over all the lists, there are two consistent names as both realistic and near the top: Kevin Steele and Jamey Chadwell.

There are others down the list a bit, and I weigh Hyams, VQ and Feldman a little more heavily than others: Bill Clark, Lance Leipold and Will Healy.
Herman is on most lists. That's not unrealistic neither is Kiffin from kiffin side. It's up to UT.

I know 4 mil would do that to me also. lol

For those mentioning Bill Clark. Yes, he seems to be a really good football coach, BUT he's was born and raised in Alabama. He's almost primarily coached in the state of Alabama, including a stint at Tuscaloosa County HS. Went to college at Jacksonville State in Alabama. I can just about guarantee he's a Bama fan and if he succeeded here would probably be in consideration to go coach at Alabama. Do yall really want another gump here? Just saying

I'm not sure BOB is the right hire either. I'm not sure he wants to be in college. He was only at Penn Sate a couple of years. We need stability.

The right fit is important, so here's what we do. We call in our top candidates, have them put on the sorting hat and see who's the most Slytherin.

Of course Steele is realistic...nobody else wanted him for their head coaching position including the school he has been one of the top DC's at for a long time. So you fire a DC to hire another DC?? Get an offensive guy...this isn't the 90's anymore. You don't win scoring 20 points a game.

Tell me about Leipold...I don't know anything about him.

Jason Witten for HC? This guy has lost his mind.

It would be wild for that to actually happen but Dan Patrick and Bruce Feldman know their stuff and they didn’t just pull that name out of a magic hat. Whitten has never been shy about his willingness to take it on and fix this place. We need a experienced HC but I can’t say that I wouldn’t at least listen to Jason and what kind of staff he would have with all the connections he has built up. Neither guy has said he isn’t a serious leading candidate just that he has thrown his hat in the ring

This job is not going to be highly coveted - if a coach at a G5 program thinks he will get a better opportunity by waiting a year or two, they will do it.

Bill Clark turned down Auburn once they mandated he keep Kevin Steele - so for that reason I have a hard time believing he'd take the chance here.

Steele, Chadwell and Healy see this as the dream job. Leipold likely will never get another chance if he wants to test his mettle in the SEC. I think the hire will be one of them.

Clark is also tight with Pruitt so that’s another issue

Herman/Chadwell/Fisher Steele DC Garner then bring in Witten and Mayo --- bet we could get at least one of the two, and they wouldn't care about any violations... If we indeed have F-U money at the table now, get it done. If Peyton is really involved, I bet he could do some convincing...You don't think Witten and Mayo in living rooms with Momma and Dad alone could spark recruiting and navigate through the violations, you're crazy...

When Chris Low comes out and says Hugh "would crawl over broken glass" Freeze is not interested in the UT job right now, the butthurt will be palpable.
