There’s a lot of NCAA doomsaying going on right now. I’d caution against at the moment. My suspicion is the number of violations and their severity gets exaggerated a little bit each time one source passes their info to another.

If people are still saying next week that “it’s 100 level 1 violations,” then I might start to worry a bit more.

I’m torn on Kiffin, first of all I’m skeptical if he’d take the job and if we’d even offer him the job. I’m also not sure we can trust him, if he was to be hired he’d be doing the exact same thing to Ole Miss that he did to us who’s to say he wouldn’t leave us again if a LSU or Florida opened up? Lastly I still can’t forget the way he left UT.

Why? Higher ups make bad decisions all the time. How do you think we got into the mess we're in? Believe it or not, but sometimes the fans know what they're talking about. Our motivation is more about winning than theirs tends to be.
Yeah It gets old people saying “they know better than you....” clearly if anyone that’s a UT fan still feel comfortable saying that, then I’m not sure they will ever change their opinion. I’ll trust you when I have no previous examples to go off. I may not have a say in this, but I’ll be damned if I continue to trust that you know what your doing when there’s never been any sign of it.

I don’t think you can get much better than lane + Steele from a recruiting + playcalling perspective. And it’s actually a realistic move. Plus he hates Saban. Probably the highest floor hire you could make while still having a high ceiling. Other options are either probable low ceiling (nfl guys/retreads) or low floor (unproven in SEC)

Pls say Lane is trending pls pls pls
Can you people remember Halloween of 2009?The team did their warmups in orange jerseys and then came out in black jerseys for the game.I loved those black jerseys and we killed South Carolina that night. I wanted Kiffen back when they hired Pruitt. He would be my choice.

control.

which ain't happening. Napier is not coming here. Kiffin and Freeze are untouchable with the "integrity" angle....but if i had my choice, i'd bring kiffing back in NY minute. he'd be #1 on my list....but my list means jack squat.

chadwell starts to make sense if your committing yourself to a long term hire, because you know that the first few years are gonna be rocky (no pun intended), so that buys him time that he probably doesn't get under "normal" circumstances. plus he'd likely be amiable to inheriting a coach or two. there are others that will fit this same description....you can hire him, or guy like him, and realistically tell fans, "hey, we're committed to this coach, we're all understanding that we're going to have to be patient as he builds this program"...

of course the caveat to all that is if the AD is on board. they could go the veteran route with O'brien or marrone, assuming either is available and interested.

past that i think you just work yourself down the list a bit, and while it won't ever be popular, you could make a case for Steele being a very comfortable hire for the admin when all is said and done....i'm not trying to talk anyone in to that mind you.

first things first, let's get an AD hired.

I'm pretty much on board with all of this, but I think I'd put O'Brien over Chadwell right now. Kiffin really pushed the envelope NCAA-wise when he was with us, but not sure we ever got hit for more than secondary violations from his tenure, so they might be able to slip him past despite Plowman's rhetoric yesterday.

Relax Steve

Here is what you want. Mark Ingram for AD. He is incredible. Look at his record. He would be AD for YEARS and YEARS. Dream job.

HC wise will depend on AD. I like Lane with Steele as DC. Haslems with Manning leading search. Haslems close with Lane.
Makes a lot of sense.

Which is why it will never happen.
