I’m not saying we will hire him but it shows what happens when we hire competent A.D. to run things. Coaches want to be a part of it

With a competent and praised AD, you get interest from competent and praised HCs. Danny White going to have us fishing in different waters than the last few searches boys. I’m ready.

I’m not saying people should be getting themselves hyped up about Kiffin like that. I’m just saying I’ve seen a few UT coaching searches in my time, and unless Andy Reid or Bill Belichick (or Kiffin himself) shows up at that podium, it will be better for all involved if the Lane Train never leaves the station.
so you want the AD to protect you from disappointing yourself?

Petersen resigned from Washington because of stress. Don’t think he wants an SEC job. Stress level is about 10 times more than UW.

Food for thought: Danny White doesn’t carry the baggage of Kiffin’s past with UT. His job is to put asses in seats, win ballgames, and make money. Kiffin checks all those marks better than anybody else. If Kiffin is his choice, he would have some booster hurdles to overcome. But I suspect he has the authority to make **** happen.

I don't know how accurate these numbers are, but Brian Kelly only makes 1.8 or so. That would be big time.
College Football Head Coach Salaries - USA TODAY
I noted this a while back when asking about him and apparently because Notre Dame is a private university or something or another, they don't have to disclose his full salary. That's what they're paying him unofficially, but he makes much more than that apparently.

Barrett Sallee on Fox Sports Knoxville now.

Says Lane could be a possibility, but doesn't think it'll happen. Says Lane wouldn't be much of an issue in the eyes of the NCAA, but he thinks Lane doesn't want the job and would tell us no if we asked.

Well, him not wanting to come here would contradict several local media folks. Lane till it ain't boys and girls...

See I thought that was weird, because if you click on his salary, it says his contract states he can receive money from an external source. I wasn't sure what that meant.

You're probably right, but leaving TWO different SEC jobs after 1 season would be a really bad look and cement his reputation.
Hmmm...If Kiffin came back, wouldn't mean he left just one SEC school, since if he came back, kinda like he never left.:cool:
