Dan Mullen had 0 HC experience when he took over Mississippi State and just 3 years ago, most of this board wanted him.
Mullen and Elliott have gone down similar paths to this point in their careers, Elliott is also close to the age Mullen was when he went to Miss St.
It certainly appears from all the stories that the environment was not T’d up to succeed. It also seems the more we know CFP’s activity as AD didn’t help. I can’t imagine and AD requesting game plans and sitting in on team meetings, as if he is a coach, would allow anyone to succeed. Pruitt did bring in more SEC talent and developed some raw talent sans our 2 corners that were really receivers but started as freshman. Or HT. Or some of the D line converted from OT or TE. I think he could coach, the rest is a bit blurry. We didn’t need blurry, didn’t need a toxic environment and didn’t need an AD as assistant coach.Butch hung 38 on him at Georgia and beat him. Georgia tech beat him. Florida beat him.
Cole is friends with Pruitt of course he’s saying that.
The red flags were there... everyone ignored them including me because we were happy to have them here. We shouldn’t have ignored them. Because the same person that was showing us red flags... showed back up here and nearly took everything we love down to the ground.
Which is why I hope Steele sticks around. Pair Elliott with Steele and I think we would be fine.Mehlan is and always will be "Meh" to me because of his goofy ass dork personality...
Elliot is not a "Meh" coach, he has a great personality...he is Cutcliffe in 98. If had put a good defensive staff together there, he would have been there a long time.
I have never said Mehlan was a bad football coach, I have said that he would not recruit very well at UT...but I think a guy like Elliot would. He is normal, intelligent, charming and a good offensive coach.
If he was the hire, what I have said about any offensive guy we have talked about holds true...His success would totally depend on putting together a good defensive staff.
thats they way you gotta look at it, if that's what were to happen. good stuff.Mehlan is and always will be "Meh" to me because of his goofy ass dork personality...

Is Bob Stoops anyone's ideal candidate?
I could see him being a major letdown. Make him one of the highest paid coaches in the country only to find out the game has passed him by.
Found myself 100 pages behind..... again
Anything new since yesterday evening?
Here's a question...As a kiffin fan, I’d like your opinion on this. What do you make of him allegedly willing to do the same thing to ole miss as he did with us?
2015 article. Scott even said Elliott was calling the plays. We don’t even know if Elliot was calling the plays then. He was co OC with Scott
Without further ado, let me put some of these questions and fears to rest: Tony Elliott calls all plays for the Clemson offense. How do I know that? When the two were announced as co-coordinators, Dabo, Scott, and Elliott all said as much in very plain language. On Sunday, Dec. 7th, just days after making the announcement that Scott and Elliott would be co-coordinators, Dabo announced that Tony Elliott would be calling plays. A few days later, in a joint press conference, Elliott discussed how he plans on calling the plays and managing the game. Scott went on to joke that he proposed they divide the play calling duties so that he could call first and second downs and Elliott could call third and fourth downs, but ends by saying that, "We figured this [Tony calling plays] was probably the best way." Tony Elliott was announced as the play caller almost immediately by Dabo. Tony and Jeff have both, consistently, confirmed that Elliott is the one calling the plays. There has been nothing said by anyone directly associated with Clemson to the contrary, so we have every reason to believe that Tony Elliott is the one calling plays for the Clemson Tiger offense.
lol. gave the like, cause, well...it's just obvious.3-7
Killing it.
