Campbell isn’t the type to do all the gladhanding required at Texas and he knows it. He probably also didn’t want to move to another team in the same conference that he’d have to play every year. My read on him is that he would never want to return to Ames as the bad guy.

Elliot has had the best of the best players over his coaching career (Deshaun Watson, T-Lawrence), just like Pruitt at his previous stops. But what could he do with the bottom of the barrel talent here?

We have highly rated qbs and none that played like them. The qb that played while Lawrence was out played well enough to beat ND if the defense didn’t give up half a hundred. I’m not stressed about who they get but you cant say he didn’t produce. He had all of them ready to go.

Hubbs is saying that the Parker Group will likely gauge interest in Franklin, Cristobal, and Fickell. Has lots of respect for Elliott. I don’t see the first three coming here.

I don’t want a coordinator but if we have to settle due to the NCAA stuff, if White doesn’t get his top targets, I could get behind Elliott.

I’ve seen people compare him to Pruitt but on offense, let’s not do that. Pruitt could barely form sentences, and we find out is unlikable, a bully, micromanaging, incredibly stubborn and maybe not that bright. Elliott on the other hand appears to be extremely smart, engineer major in college, high character guy folks love, runs one of the best offenses in CFB, and would kill it with recruiting. He could very well be the next big thing HC. Not to mention it would hurt Clemson.

But I still think we hire Campbell, Fickell or some other winning HC.

Is TE the one that got Lawrence, Amari Rogers, and Tee Higgins to go to Clemson? He knows us well enough to pluck recruits off our silver platter.

Kinda like bama and Pruitt. Its easier to recruit when your program is winning...like Clemson.

If you have the NCAA hanging over your head and watching how your program responds to a recruiting scandal, and you preach integrity and doing things the right way, you don’t hire someone with Cristobal’s recruiting reputation.

Overall body of work. Beats legit teams like Oklahoma with lesser talent. His defenses even seem to play ok. He's an offensive guy. He's got HC experience.

Another thing on Pruitt, Russ Smith ( I know I know not the greatest source) was talking about Pruitt earlier and said he wasn't exactly a hit in the living room either.

Second, two of those were Head Coaches so why are we convinced a HC is the answer?

The point was the job is a big job. It's too big for someone that's never been a head coach. It's too big for lower level head coaches in many cases. Fulmer took over a very stable and talented team. There is zero comparison in the team Fulmer took over and the current one.
