Misdirection.. Get people.looking in the wrong direction and taking about the wrong people so they can conduct business without interference.. It also helps "insulate" the main target.

- coach a team with better players than 99% of other teams they play

Cold take. Elliott is widely considered as a real good HC candidate... Had interest in college and from the NFL.

Outside an interview at MSU, Pruitt had zero buzz about his prowess as a HC.

I'm not saying Elliott is our guy or should be.

But we have hired much worse candidates than Tony Elliott... And if that is who we wind up with... That's a solid floor.

Would someone like James Franklin, who we mentioned in the power hour on Friday, be interested? We believe the Parker Group will find out. Same for Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell. There will certainly be others as well. We even have been told someone like Mario Cristobal could be a target but we haven’t been able to confirm that

I could not handle jimmy frank or another cincy coach. Either could have success but what a shot to the nads up front.

Elliott shouldn't be a top 3 candidate as I believe HC experience is crucial for us. But if Danny White does go that route, the comparisons to Pruitt need to stop after two.

1. He's a coordinator.
2. He's been surrounded by a lot of talent.

Fair comparisons completely. But the good news is, completely different personality types, will model himself after the Clemson model and not try to be Nick Saban 2.0. The Clemson Model will work for us if Elliott surrounds himself with a great staff and allows them to do their job. It's not a horrible hire, I think it could work out. But it's a gamble still, being a HC can overwhelm people quickly.

When I met him...he seemed like a nice guy and all. That being said...he was around alumni, boosters, etc.. lol
