I was raised to be a pretty good human being.

Sure, I’ve made some dumb mistakes during my lifetime but rape was something that always bothered me.

A helpless woman/man being forced into actions they don’t want to do is extremely cruel.

I’m extremely aware that Franklin didn’t physically have anything to do with it. That’s not the point.

I think he’s a pretty great coach but it’s clear as day he known about the situation or else he wouldn’t have changed his story to inform his players.

Tennessee is the team I love watching on Saturdays. The players busting their butts during practice then game time is something I can respect.

If Franklin is Danny White’s hire then so be it. I don’t have to like it but I won’t force my personal agenda on others who are ok with the hire. Just don’t expect me to change my mind about the guy because it’ll never happen.

It might be a cool city but very liberal too. Also you have to understand the Hispanic culture especially Cubans. They are huge on family and family means more than any amount of money in the world. I just personally can't see Mario and his wife being happy with two kids and so far away from his parents and family in Miami with no culture the same as him in Oregon. At least in Knoxville, he has "CubanBerg" right around the corner to fill at home. Lol That's a inside joke in Miami what they call Gatlinburg now. He would be a perfect fit and he is clean as a whistle too and an outstanding man. He knows the south and recruiting expectations and would put together a great staff too I have no doubt. I'm surprised Miami didn't hire him since he is an alumni but Manny Diaz is doing a good job down there in Miami putting that mess of a program back together too.

He’s won 11 games 3 times at Penn State after that program was buried into the ground. How could we possibly do better

Would be a good match... plus he’d be given the green light to hire whoever he wanted since it sounds like we’re willing to open the checkbook... hire a couple coaches with southern (FL, GA, SC, AL, MS) and mid-Atlantic (NC, VA, MD) recruiting ties and he’d be successful.

Most importantly to me- he’s been successful everywhere he’s been. Never had a losing record. And he’s been the man in charge. Just makes too much sense!

I like Herman but not comfortable with the reports that his current players were telling potential recruits not to go to Texas. First of all , 1) are the reports true and 2) was Herman’s relationships with his current players rocky for some reason. Question for anyone who has thoughts on the issue?

I’d rather have Herman, than Dykes, Elliott, Brown, etc...once top 2-3 say no, I’m all in for Herman.. I think him and Steele would make a great combo.

What would everyone’s reaction be if DW hired Tom Herman? I know some of you are not on board, but I think a lot would be ecstatic. Just curious

I'd take him. We could do worse than Herman. He doesn't come without question marks, though. His players were working against him in recruiting which is a red flag to me that we definitely need to get the back story on. Also sounds like he lost several games he shouldn't have along the way which seems to align with the guy we just canned.

All that being said, the guy won a Sugar Bowl which is more than we've done in a long time. He's won a lot more than he's lost, and he hasn't had any major rule breaking issues. He definitely isn't what I would call a home run, but like I said at the beginning, we could do much worse.

I assume it fundamentally works like any search firm.

My first two jobs I got out of college, a search firm had my resume. Companies reached out to them to find candidates, and they contacted me and acted as an intermediary for setting up interviews and talking money.

Only difference in this case is that the search firm kind of already has everyone's resume implicitly.

I don't care how much he wins here, and I don't care if Atlanta gets on here and tells us how great a hire it is and how we have to get behind it..blah blah blah....this right here....is what the great James Franklin built at Vandy...that program under him was a real "Beacon of Integrity"
