You cannot legitimately tell me that our fanbase is any more negative than other major programs. That perceived negativity is simply passion for our program and any legit P5 potential coach should know that.

you're not wrong, but it's in the eye of the beholder. and the only thing the prospective coach has to determine is just how impactful is that perception to the ability to do the job? in our world of hot takes and 'he who's loudest is right'....lol....there's a lot to sift thru on this front. social media can be a double edge sword. that's why you see it here all the time...we're the best and worst fan base, at the same time....need to shift that more to 'the best' side of the scale....i think that's fair?

again, that's not saying anything is the fan's fault here, i don't believe that. i do believe we present ourselves as an easy target sometimes.

AV pretty much blew up every "insider" in here last night. I think they had solid info prior to DW being hired, but may be out of the loop now.

No offense to AV as I believe he is connected. But I think everyone is in the dark with DW here with this hire. I think they wanted it that way too.

That's a terrible reason to hire a coach.

It shouldnt be the only reason, but wanting to be here in particular over some place else matters. Especially right now. This wouldnt just be another job to Chadwell, like it would for other mercenary coaches (Pruitt, Butch). It’s probably something he dreamed about as a Child, like many of us here.

Per the podcast part of Chadwell's personal email has "give him six" in it. And he named his son after Heath Shuler which we all know. Just hire him.

The search should t get past him and should be ahead of Elliott and Dykes.

Chadwell is a very solid floor. Better than our last three hires.

and i think he'd be afforded more time/patience at this point....so that could bode well for his long term prospects. but make no mistake, i don't think he's hired, and we're great in 3 years.....and that shouldn't be a deal breaker either.

Honestly gut feeling is they're either gonna swing big for Campbell or Cristobal and if they can't get it done, Jamey gets the job. It's not a terrible fallback plan. Just wish Kiffin would be above Chadwell in the pecking order though

Fulmer had zero intention of retiring. He fully planned to work with Pruitt to address obvious problems in the program and was planning that right up until he was called into Plowman's office to get the ultimatum. UT gave him an out because it was advantageous to the university and leadership to do so. Plowman was fake nice because she needed the confidentiality agreement.

Things like this always come at a cost. The way it was handled has caused several long-time donors to threaten to pull funding. Some will back down; some won't.

i think in our particular case, it's probably ok to start cutting bait......

I assume it's been mentioned and that I'm not breaking any news here but I'm just reading where Charleston Southern committed multiple NCAA violations when he was coach there. Had to vacate 18 wins and the Big South championship. Could that keep him from getting the job since we're acting like Kiffin and Freeze wouldn't get a look for that very reason?

agreed. and on Chadwell, i've not been as warm to that idea as some others, but.....if you're going to take our situation and deduce that time is actually on the coach's side, then that affords a guy like chadwell some built in "do over" time while he figures things out....i think staff is important there....but i don't think you hire chadwell, or elliot, and say "gotta be in ATL by year 3" or set stuff in stone.....

the ability to filter outside noise will be extremely important for whoever is hired. not a shot at fans, but they're included, b/c recruiting will be difficult no matter who it is, and the roster seems to deplete itself daily lol....so i'd expect some serious lumps on the field early on.

if we're gonna do this, and we are, there has to be some patience at this point.

This all day. Reasonable fans, or even unreasonable fans should not expect this and hope for much better.
