Nice. Looks like HB will do just fine. Guys like Hyatt and Calloway should excel
Ramel and Tillman and maybe malachi will thrive. The smaller speedsters put up big numbers too on big plays. Big most of the targets tend to go to bigger more possession type receivers in this offense. Chain movers that run great short to medium routes. Go watch Gabe Davis there in 18 and 19 and Marlon Williams last year. Neither are speedsters. Both over 6ft and run great routes. Not that I disagree with Hyatt and Callaway being big time in this offense. Just that it's a myth that it's the small speedsters that thrive the most in it.

Swain also said that one thing that worries him about Huepel’s offense is that it doesn’t produce NFL receivers. He said guys will put up a lot of numbers, but that they won’t be developed because they will mainly be running quick slants and screens but won’t be learning the entire route tree. Is that true?

Swain didn’t do his homework.
Trequan Smith & Gabe Davis both drafted the last couple years.
this year Marlon Williams & Tre Nixon will be drafted.
Jaylon Robinson will be drafted next year.
UCF receivers all work with Shawn Jefferson (NFL WR COACH) and Brandon Marshall in off season.

Also, since when is it a negative to put your players in Positions that they operate optimally at?
if Marlon Williams is Awesome at Digs, slants and fades... why would yiu have him running a bunch of hitches?

Heupel made it clear, he focuses and calls plays on what kids can do, not what they can’t.

Gabriel Davis was a JH product and had a good year with the Bills

We just have to be patient with defense. We’re gonna be changing systems and our offense will ask a lot of our defense when they will have quick empty series. I think it’s gonna be more important to focus on what our defense does in the red zone vs how many yards and points they give up especially in year one. Our defense will probably end up actually being better than their ranking at the end of the year. I’m really glad we have those 3 non conf games at the starts. It’s like we get a practice run, we test it against Pitt then we can tweak it the next week and hopefully by the time we get to florida we have a little bit of confidence built on both sides.

Oh yeah, I know it's probably not gonna be that great in year 1 but we could be surprised. It looks like most have bought in before the 1st practice as that will be important. Red zone will be crucial. I don't have the stats but I remember us being awful on both sides this season. I can deal with growing pains if they compete.

I’d commit in a heart beat.

Here's what Heupel systems do, they get their WRs catches, yards, and TDs.... if those WRs are the right size and fast they make it in the NFL. It's not rocket science.

There's nothing to really pick at with him on the offensive side of the ball, his success at TN will come down to having the right guy as DC to keep the opponents from out boat racing us.

Agreed. It's probably why Johnson transferred there. He can see it.

the NFL can only use what college gives them... the majority of college offense are spread based now so it’s no coincidence that NfL offenses are closer to colleges more than i think ever in its history. Players are more comfortable coming in and playing early than really every before. So idk wtf swain is talking. There’s a reason why You never hear the thing like “well he played in the spread, can he transition to pro style”anymore.
