Some reddit traders got together to "push a stock" (don't know why exactly, lots of various reasons I've seen speculated) it took off when Elon Musk tweeted about it (because he's an avid redditor) then the push was on and now the government is trying to get involved or something. Some smaller trading platforms straight up cut off buy feature for the stock (to prevent it being driven up more) and apparently Robinhood is going to force sell shares for its customers.

RH might have just killed their company if they actually do it.
So what the hedgefund people do (millionaires and billionaires accounts) is they say "let me borrow your stock in xyz and I'll give you abc amount of money(interest) AND your stock back in a specified amount of time."

This is done because the hedge guys think a certain market is over priced (gamestop) so they will sell the stock once borrowed. They anticipate that the stock will costs less in that specified amount of time and when it comes time to give it back, they'll buy low, give the stock back plus the abc amount of interest and profit the difference

So using numbers: Stock is $30 and they promise to return the stock plus $2 in a month.

What they plan: they sell at $30 and let's say the stock drops to $10 in a month. The hedge guy will buy the stock at $10 and give that plus the $2 to the one they borrowed the stock from and profit $18. Think this in a larger scale.

What happened: They sold the borrowed stock at $30 and saw the stock jump to $350 which means they'd have to rebuy at $350 losing $320 plus whatever interest they promised. On a larger scale that was a loss of billions for some and a gain for others. Some individuals banked HEAVY on the quick trade.

So now, two great historical figures in Tennessee football have been burned in effigy since Pruitt became head coach. You all might think they brought it on themselves, but there is one common denominator here. Jeremy Pruitt. I am completely blaming him. If he had not been the worst coach in our history, none of this would have happened.

Sooooooooo we are doing the Oklahoma game plan, sweeet.

I'm here for it

Even Saban and Ogre are there for it. Each won a NC doing it the past two years. Mullen uses a more ball control version of it. Smart and Fisher are more ball control, less explosive.

CJH's deal will be all about D. Can the D contain as has already been posted a bunch. You will see 5+ more offensive possessions for each team most games depending on how explosive the O is. If the D is good - watch out. That's why Arnett would be such a good hire at DC. Odom would be great at it as well.

who is that?

Hearing Angelia Brummett, UCF's on-campus recruiting coordinator, and graduate assistant Mitch Militello are likely to be part of Josh Heupel's staff at Tennessee.

Brummett has worked at Tennessee in the past and got her degree from Tennessee in 2018. From her UCF bio: "During her undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee, Brummett spent time working with the Volunteers’ football recruiting operations department as a team recruit ambassador and a student assistant for recruiting."

I haven’t seen anybody talk about it so I’ll address the elephant in the room.

What are we going to do next year when he has Tennessee humming and Oklahoma comes calling?
Man I don’t know,?we still haven’t gotten over Alabama come calling and taking Pruitt away😂🤣😂🤣

So that's what short trading is, well explained. Question I guess is if you're not using hedge guys how are you impacted (I assume they can't borrow your stock)?

I believe all the rah rah rah stuff on our new coach is mostly likely the typical hype we tend to generate because, well, we are Tennessee, and we want to believe. I’m not saying this can’t work out; I’m saying I highly doubt it right now. I know most people are focused on the defensive side as a concern with this staff but I’m not convinced that the offense is as cut out to be what some are claiming. For example, the guy was replaced at OU by Riley and the OU offense went to another level in the first year under Riley.

After OU the guy had a 6-win season at Utah State as the OC before moving to Mizzou. His first year at Mizzou, Drew Lock was a sophomore. Lock’s freshman year had been abysmal for the Tiger offense. In 2016 against 8 SEC opponents with our guy running the offense and Drew a year older, the offense averaged 22.6 points per game, good for 11th in the conference. In Lock’s junior year, the offense took the next step, rising to 34.6 ppg against 8 SEC foes. Their best offensive outputs in conference that year took place against Butch Jones’ last team here (4-8) (50 points), a dejected Florida team who coach was claiming to be a victim of death threats (4-7) (45 points), an Arkansas team (4-8) (48 points), and a Vanderbilt team (5-7) (45 points). Missouri finished that 2017 season 7-6.

Figures don’t lie but liars figure. There are all kinds of caveats that affect a team’s performance. At UCF this past year for example one of the hits the team reportedly took was a number of players opting out of participation for the season. Some years you have a better offensive line than others. Sometimes a team gets unlucky on the injury or disciplinary front. It’s hard to look at the headline numbers and jump to conclusions that have a high probability of standing up over time. Hell, we should have had one of the absolute best defenses in the nation over at least the past couple of years but that never materialized. I think most of us at one time believed it would. Alas.

When Chaney was hired I indicated I wasn’t thrilled with the hire. My buddy Charger got offended by my lack of support. I like Charger so I tried to be very careful how I might approach saying anything about Chaney from then on out. I don’t want to offend anyone else here but I’m hearing a lot of what I think is some trying to sell the new hire. We’re trying to convince ourselves of something I strongly suspect that few believe. I don’t have elevated expectations right now and don’t expect I will this time. I’m willing to give it a shot because that’s our only option.

In the past when Nick has done his pregame/game threads for the RF, anytime he predicts that we are going to lose a game, I’ve just shook my head in disbelief. Where does he get off doing that? I love it on the isolated times we prove him wrong. Even though I have a hard time with his “defeatist” view now and again, I most often still try to give him a like, because he’s put some work into it and in all honesty, I actually think he’s still mostly an all-around pretty good guy. jmo.

I guess I’m trying to say I’m probably not going to be cheering as loudly this time around but I’m really hoping I don’t offend you guys too much with some of my contrarian views.

She is also an absolute smoke show lol

Was I watching a different Florida team than you were this year?

Different schemes. They also don't play at this speed either. Mulllen has a great scheme, but he also likes to eat clock some of the time. Example: UCF had 859 O-plays while UF had 840 despite UCF playing 2 less games.
