I'm so tired of all the drama around this place. I would love to just be a boring program that wins some football games and not a dumpster fire. I have a huge admiration for Tee and what he has done for this university, but it's not Heupel's fault that Fulmer made promises he knew he could not keep. JH should be able to bring in his own staff and set himself up for success from day one.

If anything, this situation only further cements in my mind how much I dislike Fulmer now and how his legacy has been completely tarnished. I don't get how so many sheep still love that guy, he took a flamethrower to the university on his way out TWICE and cares more about his ego than fixing our problems.

Just give it to him and make him go away. To stir up this kind of drama after all that has happened here is childish and petty. Not the type of behavior I would expect from a VFL.

He was making 450k a year...here, is he wanting a buyout so he'll be "ok" for the duration of his show clause?

We all seem to think it's mainly Nieds or Felton that will be in trouble....but Tee was the only one Fulmer tried to sign a new contract for in short notice.

Swain complained forever ab how we didnt utilize our WR talent ( and he was right) but now he wants to complain that we wont attract top WRs bc it wont translate. First off, has he watched Gabriel Davis in Buffalo? Secondly, Marlon Williams and Tre Nixon will be on an NFL roster and probably drafted mid round this yr. Some people are just never happy man its so tiring. Im glad we now have someone who is known for developing his QBs and Wrs. For god sake we are finally doing something different. We dont have to have all the top flight WRs if we are out scheming you anyways. And by the way, if you start scoring points in bunches i promise you they'll want to play here.

Here is where I am...
Clean sweep. No holdovers from previous staff. No one with previous ties to UT / relationships in Knoxville. We need a clean slate to create a good culture.

Somehow, I think that this is the only way that things will improve on The Hill. One piece of the struggle for our Vols since 1998 is that we keep trying cram all our favorite things from 1998 into our day. Wonderful history. Thankful for those memories. Can't be repeated.

My opinion is that the staff would be best served going forward with a clean slate. There won't be anything healthy and strong until we see where we really are, not where we were.

Not disputing you at all, but I don't remember any drama as a player. Seems like we would have seen glimpse of this. He sat behind Peyton, kept his head down and really was a great teammate right?
I don't remember any as a player either. That was prior to the social media era, but I'm talking about his time as a coach. Always seems to be this narrative he was passed over, not given a fair shot, promised something he didn't get, spurned in an interview process, etc. Might be knox media having a punching bag for clicks or something. I don't know. Just wish we could have a staff/team/school that was focused on winning games rather than controlling the headlines.

Ya can't say things like "let the coach hire his guys" for previous hires then have feathers ruffled about CJH doing it. Not saying -you- specifically have feathers ruffled.

I 100% believe through my own deductive reasoning that Plowman went ham to put Pruitt outta work for a little while and it had less to do with the buyout.

I've said multiple times a new coach needs to be able to choose his staff. I really can't be any clearer about it.

And I simply stated that Plowman signed these deals that people keep complaining about. As for Steele, she approved the hire, she was on board with the terms and she signed the deal memo. Her job, her responsibility.

Tee and Haynsworth probably going to get together and make sure Tennessee is never successful again. I hate this damn program most of the time.

Fulmer screwed Tee Martin. I understand Tee's frustration. He took a paycut for the university and was promised an extension. He turned down a head coaching job back home with the promise of staying in Knoxville at his alma mater. Fulmer deserves the ire of his frustration. Not DW or Heupel.

And I can't blame Heupel for not wanting to retain him, because I'm sure he knows how Tee conducted himself this season behind the scenes.
Its just the nature of the business. Fulmer's promise is only as good as his ability to carry it out.

I’m not saying Chaney should stay on staff, but calling him a loser is a little premature. He was handcuffed by Pruitt’s micromanaging throughout his time here.
Brent Dougherty said yesterday “I’ve been told Jeremy Pruitt was calling offensive plays because he’s such a control freak”

they overestimate how much they matter. It doesnt help, thats for sure. but while they're wallowing and making a mess, the team and coaches are trying to move on. shame on them for putting personal gripes above the success of the program.

I agree, but my takeaway from your last post is in bold. It all starts with our leadership and flows down. If I don't lead, hire and manage my people correctly in my role I would see these same type of colossal failures. I'm hopeful but not convinced we have that problem taken care of.
