I do agree that with the offense we were electing to run it did not set our WRs up to have big games/stats. But I also fail to believe that Pruitt was coaching the WR group as well as calling the plays. The players could still have been adequately coached and developed in practice and they weren’t. That’s why you get reviews like they have the last two years at the Senior bowl etc. that the boys looked like they didn’t receive proper college coaching. That is not on scheme that is on their position coach in either not coaching them in proper techniques/route running or not coaching them at all.

I agree that Tee has proven himself to be a good WR coach in the past but the product he has put on the field at UT has been subpar. If you take what was a good coach that was producing well developed players then he goes somewhere else and that doesn’t happen the question would be why? You have direct responsibility over coaching those guys at their position that is solely on you. That would be a question that should absolutely happen if he were to interview for another job.

What I believe it is pointing to is laziness and not giving a damn. Which is more than likely why he was easily glazed over in the coaching search.
I’ll say this. Palmer didn’t go to the Senior Bowl and suddenly learn how to run routes. He was taught that. The biggest problem in my opinion was the lack of QB development and offensive linemen development. This hindered the Wideouts tremendously.
I’m not sure where the Tee is lazy talk came from but with the way players speak on social media someone who have said he quit on the team.

On another note I am looking forward to seeing what the new coach can do with the talent on the team and how they react to the new system. Go Vols!!!

🙄

I have a pretty good track record of evaluating coaching hires. This guy has his work cut out for him.

But of course, I don’t know anything. We’ll see what happens!

But to me, it is just as legitimate to be anxious about the immediate future as it is to be sure great things are coming.

Well that's out there on a limb. "he has his work cut out for him" lol As far as your track record, according to who? Yourself? You throw so much crap on the wall some will stick. lol

I think concerns about the roster and recruiting are valid. We've lost some of our best players, and we have significant holes to fill. We have young talent, a lack of depth and the team's few leaders are moving on. The SEC is tough and unforgiving.

But... UT will ride with this hire for a long while and he'll have a lot of latitude. In addition to asking the players and fans for a lot of patience, they've been talking to donors about the need for support and tolerance during a difficult rebuild.

I was thinking the same thing. We do this to every coach. lol We got a bunch of assumers in here and Kingston leads the way. LOL
True. The fact is we do not know what is going to happen. So do we assume that good things could happen because of X, Y and Z, or do we assume that bad things will happen because of N, O and P? When someone mentions one side people then assume the other side is being ignored.

Acting like hiring this guy is a sure thing is silly and wondering why people are vocalizing the questions they have about how this program is going to look going forward is disingenuous.

Bottom line: we all hope this works out.

I may get roasted for this (and don’t get me wrong this team is very good), but the 2017 Vols beats this team by double digits.

This team may go farther and be more “successful”, but 2017 beats them.
If it's not too much trouble, post some lottery numbers for the board :):)

Looks like Crouch and Morris are still active in the student database. Shamburger is too (he is a damn good player when he wants to be, he hated Pruitt).

Edit: I think Jahmir is still enrolled as well. Do not see Too Too.
Seen conflicting reports on Morris. So he is definitely not at Oklahoma?

So do we think the wait on a DC is giving time for Steele to make a decision? Because I’ll feel a whole lot better if he’s here and gets to build the defensive staff.

The wait is letting his emotions die down imo.
I’d bet he ends up coming around and taking the job

There goes your slinging. Where did I say he was a sure thing? This is what I am talking about. So those of us who rather wait and see how he does instead of already dooming him to failure are just blind and we don't know as much as you.

I’m not going to swoop in from the rafters every time someone has a valid concern...as I did in previous hires. I’m optimistic but wary as most of the fanbase. Doesn’t mean when the usual suspects start hawking the philosophy of “this means that and that means this” that I’ll sit idly by.

UCF fans and players really don't seem to like the guy. It really feels like when Cinci fans were thrilled we hired Butch

That’s Non-sense.
The players loved Heupel.
The upsetting part from their perspective was the leak that he was gone to Tennessee before he could get to them and tell them face to face.

(15yrs and counting rebuild)

"I know the milk you are drinking is sour and has spoiled, and I know I keep buying spoiled out of date milk for you to drink, but just keep drinking the spoiled milk for several more years, or when I finally decide to pony up and buy fresh milk... quit complaining, just drink it."

sorry, couldn't resist.... I agree with you by the way, but it is, what it is at this point...

How dast thou love another Vols team over this one...go back to Bama! 🤬

I feel like Odom limited Heupel’s offense a bit, especially in year 1. Defensive HCs seem to think they know offense better than their OCs, as Pruitt proved here.
“I’m gonna need a fullback dive...and then another one. Tote that pigskin!”

Good to hear about the commitment. Thanks for posting.

I played golf at Torrie Pines and my son and I drove up the Pepperdine campus because he wanted to check it out for college. Beautiful place but it's in California :(:(

Sounds like you have an entrenched position. But I ran a business based in SoCal in recent years and it’s a great area with a great lifestyle. Not sure there is a better environment for young people.
