Sounds like you have an entrenched position. But I ran a business based in SoCal in recent years and it’s a great area with a great lifestyle. Not sure there is a better environment for young people.
Cali is what it is, destination area. the hype pulls people in who desire that lifestyle. as a young person it would be great, we have to grow v up sometime

NCAA stuff isnt going to be that bad imo.

The probation itself may end up being “not that bad”

the amount of time other coaches are hammering the negative reciting while the NCAA takes their sweet time will be way too long

also the effects of having the NCAA and a chancellor that has been burned once keeping close eyes on recruiting isnt going to be good either. The grey area of recruiting is off limits now.

This staff is going to be seriously swimming upstream and handcuffed in recruiting

I traveled to California, on business, for years and I can honestly say I would never live there. I'm sure there's some good things about California but it wasn't for me.

(15yrs and counting rebuild)

"I know the milk you are drinking is sour and has spoiled, and I know I keep buying spoiled out of date milk for you to drink, but just keep drinking the spoiled milk for several more years, or when I finally decide to pony up and buy fresh milk... quit complaining, just drink it."

sorry, couldn't resist.... I agree with you by the way, but it is, what it is at this point...

Right-- it is what it is. It's a long climb out. We can't just wave a wand and say "Volus Reparo."

Keep your kids as far away from California as possible. I lived there for 15 years, so glad to be back in Tennessee.
My son graduated from Montreat College in North Carolina. He fell in love with that place and that's where I sent him. Fun fact--he lived right down the road from Billy Graham's house on the mountain top.

I think concerns about the roster and recruiting are valid. We've lost some of our best players, and we have significant holes to fill. We have young talent, a lack of depth and the team's few leaders are moving on. The SEC is tough and unforgiving.

But... UT will ride with this hire for a long while and he'll have a lot of latitude. In addition to asking the players and fans for a lot of patience, they've been talking to donors about the need for support and tolerance during a difficult rebuild.

I think most fans have come to accept that every 3-5 years we are going to have a few disasters of a season then get a new coach

And previous coach before Frost probably gets credit for the first class, So Frost only left one class that were all his guys.
That's was O"leary and UCF was terrible. Frost and White started their climb to where they are today. They were 0-13 when Frost came in and they took off like a rocket.

This is my take right now on the easiest opponents we face in 2021. I'm basing this off of recent performance. I’ve previously posted tables of our new offense which suggests it struggles against better defenses. Well, the aspect of those better defenses which inhibit the success of the offense appears to be opponents stopping the run.

Pitt has had stout run defenses the last couple of years, #12 & #3 in the nation. I don’t know if Pitt will have a good run defense this year or if they will have a drop off. In any event I’m thinking that after the dust settles we may still have a decent talent advantage which might give us an edge.

I think Tennessee Tech, Bowling Green, South Alabama, and probably Vanderbilt and South Carolina should be wins. I would expect Kentucky to have a relatively decent defense but they don’t often have much for an offense. I think we may be able to grind out a win in Lexington but the Cats may offer stiff resistance.

I don’t know about Missouri because with their new staff they haven’t yet established their typical defensive reputation. This could be a higher scoring affair.

With Ole Miss at this point I’d lean toward expecting a shootout. I think Florida reloads and I’ll be surprised if with their talent their defense doesn’t return to form in 2021. This past year it sucked. I don’t think we’re going to have the horses to run with Georgia or Alabama. jmo.

Steele at DC would be excellent.
Not Bc he’s a Vol, but because he has proven his worth. He kept Auburn afloat the last few years.

Steele’s DEF was by far the best part of the Auburn teams the last few years. There’s a reason he was so well paid.

I have some concern on the drama issues at Auburn, but I think the relationship between JH and DW will make that difficult.
