Yes. Decent. And that's his reputation in the industry. He was Primary for only 6 of those dudes and his best recruit for whom he was Primary was 0.9285. In 2021, Burns was ranked the 488th best recruiter in the nation. In 2020, he was 74th. In 2019, he was 141st. In 2018, he was 304th. In 2019 alone, we had 5 recruiters on staff all ranked higher than Burns.
For comparison, Nieds was here 3 yrs (2 of which he really recruited) and had 1 5* and 11 4*s. He was Primary for most of those. Now, Nieds was definitely an above-average recruiter.
Let me make this clear: i love the hire. KB has improved almost every year. I think he can be a superstar, especially learning from Garner. As of now, though, he is an average SEC recruiter.
...do you not know why Neids isn’t on staff anymore?
Damn, Brice breaking hires for Indiana now. And how the hell can Indiana get an NFL position coach to come to Bloomington for the same title (plus associate head coach, like that means anything) but we can’t get a position coach from college or the NFL to take our coordinator job?!?!?
*That is a rhetorical question...I know the answer...please don’t depress me any more than I already am.
I know he’s being paid but what is his job right now? Not being snarky, I’m genuinely curious. The Steele hire has always puzzled me. And if it was Fulmer making a backup plan in case he had to fire Pruitt, then why is he still here? Especially since NSD over. I doubt any still posting on this board know, except maybe LA.He’s being paid 900k he needs to be here doing his job
I think they may be cautious with this one. I can't see them going back and forth with Washington after the Franklin fiasco. If someone says they need to think about it, just move on to the next guy.so? if he's who you want, and he's balking at 1.2, then how bad do you want him? my only point is you have overpaid for coordinators before....why not do it for one you really, really want? that's it....nothing more. we're not really in a position to be talking about "yeah buts..." when it comes to hiring people....our leverage is not the greatest right now
if he's the dude....go make it happen. if not, move on once you've hit your 'pain threshold', financially.
I think we are talking about two different things, but I don't understand how in the hell you missed what we said. It was a hypothetical to start with.@SSVol
This is the last im saying about it...
I dont see it as indecent, dishonest...thats just a terrible take.
I don't see it as "using someone else". I see it as using ONE'S SELF...one's skills...one's position, to better that ONE'S lot in life.
They’ve offered Washington a good number, terms and budget for staff. If it doesn’t happen, I think Clinkscale becomes the next offer. Each of them are strong recruiters and motivators. Both are on shortlists to be DC’s at major programs. I know they’ve talked to Clinkscale several times today. I can’t see him making a lateral move. One assumes he’s being considered for DC. I could be wrong.
