Apparently Conklin got interviewed for the DC job at Illinois too, so maybe he is looking to get into a P5 job again. As their HC he's also making less than 250k (can't find exact terms though, still looking).

You get a younger guy used to running the ship and all the stress with it, and then ask him to concentrate on just one side of the ball, no HC duties/headaches, more than double his salary... yeah that guy would probably be working with his hair on fire and giving it 100% 24/7.....

With every new name it is truly looking like JH is being forced to hire a minority candidate for DC. It’s the only 3 we have been serious with yet Brice comments we have had significant interest at times in the position. No reason not to go straight to Conklin if Kacy turns it down instead of the Banks dude Hubb mentions. I don’t mind T-Rob at all as I think their defensive struggle this yr was the exception to the rule and he is an elite DB coach and Recruiter. Just reading the tea leaves of the names being released their is a clear trend. I don’t mind it if things are even or they are best candidate but I don’t want to reach just because of how someone looks when we should be looking at everyone the same and judging based on resume
There’s a preference but not at the expense of a qualified candidate...jmo.

Those two guys might be the same person because they're both so negative about everything. I don't think I've ever read anything positive from either of them.
Oh come on..Weezy is just down and out right now which is not his usual disposition..saying he is anything like Brubear is ridiculous.

I seem to remember everyone was hyped about Conklin as a hire back in the Dooley days. I think we can't go wrong with either of the two names at the forefront right now (Kacy Rodgers or Conklin). I think it's an added bonus that both have familiarity with Tennessee as a program. Rodgers' NFL experience is a huge plus, but Conklin seems to be a real up and comer in the college ranks. His Wofford team has performed well the last couple seasons, and his Pitt defenses (minus his last year) were solid.

I just hope we find out soon because this waiting is killing me.

Never bothered me. I've always liked the more exciting rides. Love roller coasters. Used to ride Freefall at Six Flags Over Georgia over and over and over.

As a kid, definitely. Especially at legit theme parks. Fair carnies are missing fingers for a reason. I avoid their rides altogether.

Be interesting to see if the laws in some states don't affect the NCAA as a whole in the near future. We've ran into it at my work with people legally doing something then getting popped when they get back from vacation.
It's ridiculous..I don't partake myself, but it is major hypocrisy for alcohol to be legal and so widely accepted and Marijuana to still have this ridiculous stigma attached to it.

As someone who has consumed vast quantities of both in my past I can say with absolute conviction that alcohol is by far a worse drug...far more bad things happen because of alcohol consumption.

For those still in on the Simpson debate - what is it exactly do you want from a QB for CJH's O than what is already in the QB room? There are two HS Elite 11's, one being the MVP his year (HB), both being unstoppable in HS from two of the top HS football states in America. Both were born to be QB's and leaders. That an embarrassment of riches already and both are still classified as freshmen.

Then, there are Maurer and Hooker. Both have started games in P5 football. Both have been underdeveloped. Maurer was pressed into duty before he was physically and mentally prepared for it, but had flashes of good play. Hooker got a lot of starts in at VaTech and had flashes of good play as well, especially with running the ball. Both of these guys got the shaft with development. Now, they will get Josh -Mr. QB - Heupel to develop them in an exciting spread offense that is balls to the wall lightning fast.

Getting Simpson would be fine, but he is going to have to sit for awhile. The narrative we need him to have a good recruiting class is false IMO. It's a new day and a new way with new coaches who do things differently and hopefully, much better. Hiring Garner signals that message immediately on D. Showing what the O can do this fall will demonstrate it to O recruits if they don't already know.

I think the star system leaves a lot to the imagination QB's and OL especially. A OL that is 6'6" 340 is rated 5* because of size I think since none of them have gone against anybody their size but they will so it is a guessing game. QB's usually have 1 maybe 2 good receivers that catch 80% of every completed pass they have ever thrown in school and if the WR's are faster than average they are usually wide open. And if their daddy just happens to be a coach ..well...who is going to be highlighted, just saying it has happened more than many want to believe.
When someone says an OL or DL prospect is a monster player, I try to look at their tape. Nine out of ten times it's usually some huge dude that is lined up across from a guy who is giving up 80 pounds--but that's the high school game. Pancakes are everywhere :):):)

Thing is Conklin has nearly as much defensive turnover as Saban...at Wofford.

That to me says a lot about the caliber of coach he is, teams in the SEC are taking his guys to fill on-field positional roles. Hell even the NFL has poached some of his staff, FROM WOFFORD.
I don’t know anything about the guy. Thanks for the info. Sounds like it would be a good fit if this happens.

We would visit my father every summer in NE Ohio. I went to Cedar Point every year from about '76 to '83. Even back then the coasters there were legit. Loved going there.
We took the kids up there ten years ago for two days..it was like going to rollercoaster Mecca...loved it. I wanna go back, they have a ton of new rides since we went.
