If what Swanson posted is true that JH wants Conklin and DW wants others, and we end up hiring Conklin... does the board self explode? Do we have a moment of hope, or do we immediately begin hating the hire? I just need to get prepared.

This board is powered by the tears and confusion of its posters. If we all knew, it would shut down.

Instate class 22 may decide early but it’s to grab a spot in pandemic years with unknown to visits. Outside of Ty you could still stand chance to flip based on product on field if it looks exciting and more clarity comes out in NCAA stuff. If you find a way to get JJ McCleskey and pair him with Mack and a lot of the support staff with deep ties throughout state and as hard as JH appears to be pushing the state then I think at the end we will grab enough guys that we will feel ok.

And the difference between have a DC a couple days ago vs a couple days from now will make LOTS of difference in these relationships that we have not been able to form yet? As usual, we overreact to everything.
How’s that an overreaction?

Unless we look like world beaters, kids are going to commit to schools with coaches they’re familiar with & can win immediately vs an entirely new staff staring NCAA sanctions in the eye.

Ty Simpson is the first example.

Getting Shannon to take a lateral move positionwise from Florida was also widely considered a home run. And honestly this year is the only year it was really bad. Due mostly to how many players he lost from opt outs, injuries and suspensions. Not having any depth is magnified when you face the 6th most plays per game in the nation. The first 2 seasons with Shannon weren't all that bad when looking at it from a per play basis instead of total numbers.
Welllllllll, once you bring some facts into it.

Update on DC Names:
- Kacy Rogers: leaning toward 7, but not quite there yet.
- Josh Conklin: 7
- Tim Banks: 3
- T Rob: 2

DC name flow chart:
1. Confusion
2. Disappointment
3. Research
4. Buy-In
5. Optimism
6. Insiders: “we got him!”
7. Reporters: “you don’t got him.”
8. Disbelief
9. Depression
10. New Name (return to 1)

Saying that a lot of posters are using that as a reason that we should stop taking so long and just hire a DC asap. Like having one in the next couple days is going to make some massive difference in developing these relationships that we don't have with 2022 recruits.

Wow. This may be the most accurate information I've ever seen posted on VN.

In the war room last night, Hubbs said that we’re squarely behind the 8 ball with the 22 class. Said a lot of kids want to make early decisions and we just don’t have enough time to build relationships there.

Obviously if we look good on the field this year, things could change.
Sounds like Hubbs went waaaaay out on that limb

Some of these unnamed sources are probably why our fanbase is considered "toxic" from the outside looking in.

They drop info to get our hopes up. We all lap it up. Then they drop in an anonymous tidbit telling us about a scenario that will obviously make us doubt the leadership. We are screwed.

We'll probably make a normal hire eventually and we'll write the narrative around it ourselves with some help from these "sources".

Some folks will hold onto that info and they will bring it up 2 years from now like it's fact. When in fact, we don't know anything that can be considered truth.

Rinse. Repeat.

I'm convinced the people benefitting from the clicks on websites like these is behind these "nuggets". It works like magic and lines their pockets. Follow the money. The more drama at Tennessee there is, the more money they make.

I have a feeling many of these "sources" realized how rich they could get after Kiffin left and engagement in spaces like this exploded.

Just my 2 cents. Take it all with a grain of salt.

He hired Randy Shannon for Heupel. That's a fact.

I'm not saying we know for sure this is happening here - we don't know it to be true, but past evidence says it *could* be.

But here would be my retort to your statement that Heupel wouldn't take the job if it were true:
1) $4M goes a long way, and we gave him a very long deal.
2) He was one subpar season away from being on the hot seat at UCF - especially with a new AD in town.
3) It does not have to be contentious that the AD wants a say on the construction of the football staff.
It is not a fact, no matter how bad you want it to be.
