My old man burned me out on rasslin' every Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon at the mid-south coliseum in Memphis and on TV with Cowboy Bill Watts, Danny Hodge, Billy Red Lyons, The Spoiler....just fake, staged bombast like "reality" TV of today....fat men in tights on the stage and drunks on the floor yelling and raising almighty he!! like the sh*t was real.......that loudmouth Flair from the 90s reminded of them ......my old man was uneducated and didn't realize how ridiculous it all was...........

As far as wrasslin is concerned I have to give Mankind a shout. No one wrestled with more heart or gave more of himself, he always gave it everything. What he lacked in skill or athleticism he overachieved with heart and love of the industry. I've of my favorites and a great dude.

I went to school with Tommy "WILDFIRE" Rich and we were all in Daytona and Tommy came down just after he had won the belt. You talk about a way to get in with the ladies !!!! Tommy had that Blonde hair and the girls would just swoon and all you had to do was say" Do you want to meet him" and BAM, YOU WERE IN LIKE FLYNN, Big Fun.

Nice flex about being the ugly friend.

😁

Holy crap.....I was at the Mid-South Coliseum that night!!!!
brings back childhood memories.....and my grandmother taught Jimmy “Mouth of the South” Hart in elementary school
Very cool stories, both of them.

Why isn’t Rodney Garner listed here?

Maybe we're jumping to conclusions that Garner will be the DL coach? Maybe he'll be an analyst?

But more likely, they're just waiting to list the rest of the defensive staff together, like they did with the offensive staff. They list Banks because they've already made that announcement. Garner will probably be listed when the rest of the defensive staff is revealed.

The Brain is definitely #1; but, the Mouth of the South is right up there with him. After those two, it drops just a bit. Cornette, Paul Bearer, JJ Dillon, and Miss Elizabeth; but, you had Mr Fuji and Freddie Blassie, who were both great.

Edit: I may add, though...Cornette use to have people bring guns to the arena looking to shoot him, he'd get them so worked up. THAT'S talent.
Paul Ellering should be on the list. I loved the Road Warriors back in the day. Just an iconic look.

Life use to be fun, but we now live in a country where everyone has to find something to complain about. This is not political. We live in the most prosperous country in the world, yet no one seems to be happy or content. People today are trying to find meaning by tearing others down. The true path to joy and happiness is to help others and lift each other up. I know not everyone on here is a Vol fan, there are trolls. But if you are a Vol fan it is time to stop tearing each other down and start lifting each other up.

This current administration, current coaches, and current players are not the source of this program’s problems. Hopefully they can be the catalyst to a turn around and a return to prominence in college football. They need our support, they need us to give our all for Tennessee today. So I say Go Vols and Go Volnation!!!

I miss the 80's. That was a great decade.

Mick Foley/Cactus Jack/Mankind/Dude Love was a tough SOB. I read something once about all the injuries he suffered, just in his famous Hell-in-a-Cell match with the Undertaker. Apparently, lots of things went wrong in that match. And supposedly, when they were legitimately rolling him out on a stretcher, the chants of the crowd inspired him to get up and return to the ring to finish the match.

The only famous wrestler I ever met was Sgt. Slaughter. He did a show on my dad's last duty station, Mayport Naval Station. This was back in the '80's. I think it was around the time he became associated with G.I. Joe, but I can't remember for certain.

Good Morning, VN!

Do we have any info on the final pieces of the staff?

I have little to nothing to add to the Rasslin conversation except that I met this guy at a computer store in Ohio in the 80's. He was being used to sell Amiga Computers. He were big. One might even say he was Giant.
