A lot of rationalization about WM. Some of us have actually watched some of the games he's coached for a long time as well as his career trajectory. There are good reasons he has bounced around many P5 and G5 programs for his entire career.

But who knows, maybe he will enjoy a career resurgence with Banks making it happen.

Semantics, whatever. The point remains: Justin Coleman “Highest Paid Anything NFL” is a surprise after watching his college career here.

Trying to prove what E-Man and JC did at UT using stats is ridiculous when we watched them play. The final judgment on how well they played was their NFL Draft stock, which was UFA as practice squad signings. Nobody came calling for them because they were not good enough. They developed afterwards.

When your team isn’t good you don’t tend to get drafted. Has nothing to do with development sometimes. Kids on the winning teams are in spotlight more and scouts overlook their flaws or think they can get them later as people may overlook. A lot goes into that. Look at Kyle, Marquez and Shy who were undrafted yet had immediate impacts. More and more good college players go undrafted each year as everyone is jumping as soon as they are eligible for draft and there are less rounds than used to be. Coleman was good at TN at CB outside of the deep ball and when they moved him to Nickel because of his struggles in that dept his career took off. Willie at least deserves credit for that.

Also nobody here is saying Willie is the greatest DB coach. Most just saying you can do worse and the unit can be a winnable one as he is solid but not special

Basilio bringing the fire today. He really likes the offensive staff that has been assembled. Seem very organized and professional. Could work out well for us.

On the other hand, he thinks the Martinez hire is terrible. He’s not liked by coaches in the state, doesn’t develop his players (see Justin Coleman and Emmanuel Moseley), and looks like a lazy hire by DW. Coleman and Moseley should have been stars here but went undrafted and didn’t shine until the NFL.
Moseley was a 2 star with NO other big offers. He wouldn't even be in the NFL if it weren't for his development here. Dumb take.

Cam was good, made good breaks, played fast and aggressive. I shook my head at how many times Coleman got burned and shook my head again when he made bank in the NFL. I hope other staff influences Martinez for the better. But ultimately, we just need to score more than the other team. Go offense.
