Have you read medical opinions
how Covid affects the sense of smelling ?Just curious.
No I haven’t. I read every thing I could get my hands on at the start of this because of where I work mostly. After I had it, I wanted nothing to do do with it ever and that includes reading about it and the side effects. I know that sounds foolish, but I’m good with that for now.

Recruiting sucks

You can’t even really recruit right now. So should we really even buy into to all of these commitments elsewhere when they can’t even vision certain schools and really meet with them? If things are allowed to open back up recruiting visits/camps wise in June (which is what it’s sounding like it’s going to be) then i have a lot of confidence this staff will create their own momentum. If things are bad come fall... then we may have to have an intervention.

Y'all think we upgrade some baseball facilities after our recent success? Will recruiting pick up? Idk much about it sorry
Baseball recruiting has been solid. Tomorrow's starter couldve went to Vandy and chose TN. We also have a kid committed that if he made it to campus would be as hyped as Rocker or Lieter but he will probably get drafted.

Just a matter of time before were at half capacity

Probably, I couldn’t care less though. “Build it and they will come” won’t work, ask the Marlins. I’d rather us shift focus to basketball as our moneybag sport like kentucky than 100 mil into renovations on a stadium that houses a laughing stock

You can’t break the bank for baseball facilities. It doesn’t make money. But you can pay Tony all the moneys you can muster. I put my money in him, not a facility.
If they upgrade facilities and stay good enough to fill the stadium baseball can make money. I believe LSU and some other schools have turned a small profit in baseball the last few years.

What he’s been able to do with recruiting is asinine considering we’re 14/14 in the SEC in baseball facilities. It’s blown my mind since he got on campus. All he has to sell these kids is himself.

It is, hes young and seems to relate well with these kids. Also getting a proven pitching coach in Frank Anderson help get some pitcher to look our way.

The medical opinions are all guesses, no one has any idea why it takes some people so long to recover their smell. Olfactory nerves and support cells regenerate every few weeks, so the damaged ones should have been replaced by now. The neural pathways getting compromised is the only logical guess, because those can take a while to reform, but nobody knows how COVID would mess those up because they don't have the protein receptors for COVID to infect them. They all recommend smell training, but very little evidence that actually has a positive effect on the smell coming back.

Hoping someone funds some actual research on this, as millions of people like us still have only partial smell back or everything smells (and therefore tastes) radically different than it used to.

Vitello wants facility upgrades as part of improving the program. As is, his job to recruit is much tougher because we are behind. Several SEC baseball programs are making money or at least breaking even. If UT can get crowds there like they did today (especially now with alcohol sales), baseball could support itself. Find a donor or two, and it’s time to spend some money to make this happen to keep Vitello.

Also good god did you go to a A level high school? I feel bad for you. My high school’s facilities were top notch. Stadium seating sucks, standard bleachers. But the field and groundskeeping is better than Tennessee’s considering they didn’t give up on dirt and install that godawful “turf dirt”

I thought I had seen people say the turf was Vitello’s idea. Too many early season games were getting rained out.

You do realize that Kentucky football makes twice as much revenue as Kentucky basketball does even in years coming off a national championship.

MSU, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss - all with parks over 10 K seating with max attendance at numerous games each year. LNS is 25% or less of their size. For locals, in comparison, the AA Tennessee Smokies current park can hold 6500 or so. Around the same size as aTm. Ballparks versus ballfields. Smokies make money. With winning add more seating, donations, beer, concessions, gear sales, and marketing pushes - UT can make money.
