Pay the man!!Stadium renos for baseball don't mean scaling back football renos. UT is planning for both. UT has been working with Vitello for a while to create a unique vision for baseball facilities, with funding coming from the upcoming TV money. They've been implementing phased upgrades, but major renos are coming.
I hope so, TN being good at baseball and beating Vandy in the one sport they are good at would be funny.UT added a commitment to upgrade baseball facilities into Vitello's contract extension. There have been numerous internal discussions on his vision, and Fulmer was moving forward with renderings. They want to add fan experience amenities, improve media areas, enhance seating, overhaul the entrance and modernize the overall aesthetic, in addition to continuing clubhouse upgrades. With Fulmer gone, it will transition to DW. He and Plowman seem committed, maybe even more so after this weekend showed how UT fans will support baseball.
Vitello has the opportunity to see his vision brought to life at UT, and hopefully, that will be enticement to stay and see it through.

The change to turf was in the works prior to Vitello. I worked for Facilities when Serrano was the coach. The groundkeeper couldn't keep clay and dirt from running into the storm drains and TDEC was threatened to fine the University (and might have) over illicit discharges to the river. Dude would dump clay right on a storm drain out of spite it seemed. The change to turf completely removed the problem.I get the purpose of it. It’s cheaper, easier to maintain, looks better, drains better... but ask any ball player what he prefers and I’d almost guarantee he says dirt.
Yeah, they had to go to turf, not only what you said, but the year they had like 20 games cancelled because of weather too.The change to turf was in the works prior to Vitello. Invest in the programs that are winning at a high level to keep them at a high level. Manage the programs that are middling. Reward when they start winning. Now is the time to dump money into Vitello and the program. Baseball makes money in the SEC at the top programs with the best facilities. But even if it doesn't, their success improves Athletics and the "aura" (if you will) of the school.
They will share the stadium downtown. LNS will be a glorified practice facility and house occasional games and 100s of camps. That’s all well and good, but they’d be better served demolishing Lindsey Nelson and starting from scratch. It’s so far behind that you can’t save it IMO. South Carolina realized that and now they have the second best stadium in the SEC. First until MSU dropped **** you money on their stadium.

If they do that, they might as well stay at LNS and just renovate it. Everyone hates off campus stadiums, and it wouldn’t be OUR stadium. Think about it this way, the Superdome in NOLA is awesome, and by far and away the best stadium in their respective conference.. but do you think playing there helps or hurts Tulane recruiting?
Edit: obviously it hurt because they built an on campus stadium a year or two ago that’s much much worse than the superdome.
