Very difficult to be nice reading some of the takes in the FF. "Did we make the wrong hire at DC", blah, blah, blah. Would be nice to do a little digging before posting some of the crap. Middleton, Solomon, Young, Simmons, Banks, Harrison, Butler, Bumphus and some others did not see the field. The Defense that lines up in August will bear little to no resemblance to what was on the field today. Know it's difficult for a lot of folks to use logic and common sense. Much easier just to bitch and moan all the time

It's become a way of life for many Vols fans. The coaches are failures before they ever coach a game. The faster you point that out, the faster you can sit at the cool kids table.

Maurer is the most physically talented QB on the team and it's not close. If they can get him to just take what the defense is giving him instead of going for 6 every play, watch out.

As easily as those who say the offense looked really good. Sorry but there are quite a few weak spots at the moment. Hopefully they will get fixed by the time the season starts.

That’s true but you really can’t tell by the offense either.... Heupel has a ton of history to look back on though that makes everyone feel that it will be rocking defense.... With so many guys being held out on defense...... it’s impossible to get a good feel on what it will look like.

Harrison Bailey is the best bet for this team to do anything. We have offensive linemen and for the first time in a long time a quality oline coach. Add a system to get the ball to playmakers. Bailey is the man.

A strong arm to me is like Justin Herbert, Zach Wilson, baker mayfield etc. they aren’t in the same category. That’s not a knock on bailey he throws the ball fine he’s just not a power thrower.

Bailey has always had great touch on his throws.

I don’t remember Peyton being a power thrower either!!!

I think we’re all secretly rooting for one QB or another. I’m happy HB showed out due to all the talk about sitting a year, changing mechanics, was only good in HS due to all the talent around him, blah, blah, blah....
He did have some talent around him and he also made talent around him in HS. Last year, w/o spring or summer camp due to Covid, we’re really looking at a true freshman that happened to play a few games at the end of the year with very little practice time. We should be excited we have options, adding Milton as well. But as of right now, all the HB nay sayers can #sand.

We need to improve on defense.

Luckily, this is the only game that our defense will have to play against our offense.
By the time that we play ole miss, they will be ready. We will score 70 on ole miss. They will score 30 on us. Record setting day for their kicker with 10 field goals.

The previous staff’s mcD bag boys are the ones. The transfers and the let out of LOI guys seem to be the recipients of the cheating. Just supposition, but seems plausible.
