Once again we have our own fans falling all over themselves to show how unbiased they are. The outcome of this reasoning is that they bias themselves in the other direction and simply look like they are trying too hard. I don't think it is a conspiracy. It is simply gross incompetence.
Bob Kessling of fans.

It was a BS call yesterday and after a night to sleep on it, it's a BS call today. It's more of the same BAMA does what they want. They clearly want BAMA in the big show. A loss would have most likely prevented that.

Regardless of whether you believe it was interference or not, the player tagged the base, and made an accurate throw to first where it was late. The touch of the Bama player had did not affect the outcome of the play. The umpire affected the outcome of the play.

Just now watching for the first time and there absolutely no way that is even close to interference.

Watching it live, I was completely baffled when they called everyone back on the field. It appeared like a routine play. Heck, even when they slowed it down, it appeared routine. Any contact was incidental and had no effect on the outcome of the play.

Visions of LSU 2010, UNC 2010, UGA 2013, Vandy 2013, and on and on went through my head as they replayed it over and over. Ugh. Oh well, at least its double elimination and our spot in the NCAA tourney is secure.

Here's the clear shot. I just don't see how you can say this is not interference.

Just forget intent for a moment. Was the second basemen in the basepath? No. Did the slide affect the throw? Yes. Comon' you guys lol.

The slide was straight in. If the fielder wanted a clean throw he should have been out of the path of the slide. I have played and watched baseball nearly my entire life. That was a textbook slide.

I post this with a heavy heart today. My mother-in-law passed away this morning. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold who lived a long and prosperous life--(96) years. Her body just couldn't go any more . My wife is having a difficult time today but she's a strong person and understands that her mom is in a much better place today. I've heard all the horror stories about mother-in-law's but she was truly a gift in my life. She will definitely be missed. RIP mom.

I am so very sorry to hear this. It is good that you and your wife had so many years with her and she was able to impress so many good things on your heart. Prayers for your grieving process and that the good memories dominate your thoughts. God's peace and blessings on you and your family.

Not being a homer, that looked liked incidental contact. The runner is sliding full speed and if the mind fears a collision it will react in a way to protect the body. Weak call IMO.

Exactly my thinking, as well. Both have a right to the bag. Ferguson looked to react instinctively to protect his face...not to intentionally to obstruct the fielder.

I’ll admit I know more about football than baseball, but if you look his arm does affect the 2nd baseman while throwing the ball, while it could’ve easily not been called, I feel like if the roles were reversed we would want it called tbh

If the fielder is in the base path the runner can affect the throw because they have the right of way to the bag. The runner slides straight into the bag and going full speed it can be difficult to fully control your hands if you sense a danger to your face. The fielder should have stepped out of the base path to make the throw. Bad call but they happen all the time to us so what is one more going to hurt.
