I thought I was in heaven the first 5 weeks of that season.
I had a bad feeling, I knew in my gut that the season was going to be a nut punch during the Appy St game...it actually hit me as soon as Cam fumbled that punt. That's how clear it was in my mind, I have a bad memory now thanks to drugs, but I remember that feeling vividly.

He was a non-factor for this season. Originally thought he could legitimately compete for the starting job after a preparatory season…pre-first incident. That went out the window and I’ve already written him off afterwards. He was a drag on the team and it was only getting worse.
I thought he was going to need a while to get up to speed...his HS offense did not prepare him for QBing in the SEC imo.

Not a father, but I can tell you, sleep well tonight. It'll be the last time that happens for some time.

fun fact, after braving 7 years (and counting) of said no sleep, I finally got my brood out to my sanctuary, in this case, Horse Creek Park in Greeneville TN. Not ten minutes in I spot two small children petting a spotted Eastern Newt.

You know that moment when your cell phone falls out of your pocket. Time slows down, as you watch it shatter onto the floor?

Well, that happened as I see my daughters pushing the newt, then, rubbing their eyes, face, etc 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thankfully no one got sick.

In short, we joke dont ever eff with newts. Savages!

Btw talking about how nice the first part of the 2016 season was made me want to share this picture from the game of me and my dad. He’s such a Vol diehard and when I took my job at Georgia Southern I promised I would go to every Tennessee-Florida game until we pulled it off. Being there with him was so special. I remember pulling off at the Weigel’s right before Pellissippi Parkway and him telling me to grab us a couple beers to celebrate. What a game and what a memory. I want this feeling back so bad.

Kid number one coming tomorrow. Any fun fatherly advice from anyone in the thread?

Hate to sound cliche, but it truly goes so fast... I blinked and got one graduating college in a month about to be engaged, and the other starting their junior year of college... soak in and embrace the good, bad, chaos, and crazy moments... it will be what helps shape your memories once they grow up...

Don't waste you r money on expensive toys for the kids when all the kid will do is play with a stick or a box. Put the money in a college fund. Also, make sure to take time for your relationship with your significant other that is where the pressure will be.
