Yeah I've rarely understod the fear of many concerning home invasions...but then again I can remember spending the night at my country grandparents' house and sort of "get it" too. If I was far from neighbors or in the country, I'd feel a bit more paranoid. Doesn't help that over 40% of break-ins in the US happen in the South.

But I also grew up watching too much "Unsolved Mysteries" and maybe the fears when sleeping elsewhere are largely inflated, but media has certainly implanted that fear in my mind and it can be hard to shake. But in a secure building in the city on the 2nd floor, couldn't feel any safer...unless an evil Spiderman is about to scale our building, nobody is getting in our home to begin with.

It's nice to sleep easy at night and I guess we all get our sense of protection in different ways.

Summertime in South Knoxville, parents would work, we live in the country, me and my younger brother would stay home most days as we had no babysitter.

One summer around 12 years old I remember multiple “prowlers” coming around. One day in particular the dog goes crazy and we hear banging on the door at the front porch. I sent my 8 year old bro into the closet with the cordless phone. He called our parents at work while I went to the front door. In retrospect it should have been 911.

At this point the guy sounds like he’s going to kick the door down so I load both barrels, open the door, and level right on his chest. At this age I have enough experience shooting guns and have no problem with confidence. He sees me and his eyes get wide, backs away, and sprints back to the car. His buddy at the back door follows. This wasn’t the only incident like this in my youth.

This was the early 90s. Having grown up out in the country you learn that if someone you don’t know shows up on your property then you need to be on guard. Since then I moved to the suburbs of Atlanta. There’s more innocent foot traffic around these parts but I still get that sense of hyper awareness when folks show up unannounced on my property.

Parker ball is one of our more active players with this thing.. has he played a snap? If not for his smoking hot mom, would any of us know who he even is? Again, can’t blame these guys for playing the cards they’re dealt, but I imagined these guys making money off of tshirts, Jersey sales, autograph signings, special appearances, etc.. not retweeting every small business in East Tennessee.. interviews this fall are going to sound like a NASCAR interviews..

Get off my lawn while y’all are at it 😂😂
