This locks us in a middle of the pack team. We were already there but this cements us there. Sorry that's hard to hear.
How is playing Bama every year any different then what we do now? Just add another team, which would probably be Auburn who we have beaten pretty regularly lately. At least Florida and Georgia wouldn't glide by-- (Unless Florida would like to keep LSU on their schedule--I think in this situation, it would be a firm no)

It doesn't change anything other than a clear elite program in Alabama in division and, let's say you get past that gauntlet, you have to play OU, TX, LSU, etc in the title game.

We don't have the horses to compete with all these programs. Look at how we're recruiting and where we're recruiting.

The SEC will do whatever they can to protect Bama. Adding Texas and OU will not hurt them, but will hurt us. SEC will be sure of it
Here’s what would happen: we keep Alabama as our yearly rival. Their division looks like this:
Alabama
Kentucky
South Carolina
Vanderbilt
Mizzou
Arkansas
Mississippi State
Ole Miss

Ours:
Tennessee
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU

This is a little short sighted IMO.

Texas and Oklahoma bring eyeballs in multiple revenue sports-- men's and women's. Scheduling to maximize viewership to increase TV money is what they care about.

Not sure why the networks think focusing on announcers conducting inane interviews and chatting nonstop like they're on The View is what viewers tune in for while a live game is being played, but that's apparently the new model. Sankey droned on for an entire inning with everybody ignoring the actual game. I'm surprised they didn't have him hoisting a Coke bottle, label front and center.

I'd rather not make things harder on ourselves to actually be good at football again. Yeah, I'm afraid. No shame in admitting it. We've had 14 years of football dysfunction. Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC might mean less cupcakes in our schedule (i.e. good football games each week), but it also means we likely don't sniff a conference title for quite some time.

Lol NBA is trash not even remotely comparable to college football.
Well, I can't wait to watch Bama go undefeated in the SEC, beat Georgia/Florida in the SEC CG, beat Ohio St/Oklahoma in the playoffs and then beat Clemson in the NCG, just like last year and almost every year since they went to 4 teams. At least, it goes to 12 teams, next year. Effing boring. Save this post and see how right I am. Maybe substitute USC, LSU, Auburn, Washington, Texas and/or Florida St. every 3 or 4 years. To beat it all, UT has sucked for the last 20 years and that makes it suck a$$ even more. Yes, I will watch every game and live or die on every Tennessee play, but I guarantee it still ends up Bama vs. Clemson/Ohio St in the final game
