The difference between special ed kids and knuckleheads is the desire to learn and understand. In the case of knuckleheads, it's not over their heads, it's beyond their desire to see and understand the truth. When you have several top-rated gymnasts from the past confirming this phenomenon exists, then you add in that Japan wouldn't allow her to bring her ADHD meds with her(which would throw off her brain chemistry), and you factor in just how good and dominant a gymnast she has been....I'm really not sure why people are finding it hard to believe her. This is the same Simone Biles that has been dominating the sport for years. She won 4 gold medals at the 2016 Olympics. I think she's done more than enough to earn the benefit of the doubt.
She has her AD/HD medicine with her bc they allowed medical exemptions for athletes to bring them in. It is ok to criticize her…. Athletes get praise when they good and criticism when they don’t….. she is no different….. Imo, what she experienced happens in every sport and the basic root cause is fear of failure….. She has been built up so much that perfection is her only success… Badketball version is Ben Simmons…. Ton of videos of him playing pick up draining shots all over the court…. In the playoffs, he turned down wide open dunks….. The baseball version is Chuck Knoblauch….. perennial All-Star who all of a sudden couldn’t make a throw ten feet from second to first base…. Mental weakness can happen to any athlete at any time and is imo the number one thing to being a great athlete.

Something to consider for those of us who may have tried adderrall (whichever amphetamine it is, etc.) as a college student, is as follows:

If I took adderall everyday and practiced gymnastics everyday for ten years, I would be able to back flip to the moon.
That stuff is performance enhancing for someone like me, who maybe is not adhd, or whatever.
Just a thought.

From what I read, Japan did not allow her to bring her ADHD meds because they are illegal there. Yes, she has an exemption from the IOC, but not from the laws of Japan.

That was rumore from people that was arguing about this but from my understanding that Tokyo 2020 allowed exemptions for all athletes to bring in their meds that were competing.

Then maybe that had nothing to do with it. It does not disregard that other high level gymnasts have stated the "twisties" are real. I have no idea what cause them, but all of those gymnasts also said they could be extremely dangerous and cause serious injury, or worse. What is the reason to doubt a high level gymnast like Biles who already has gold medals from the 2016 games? And I'm not talking just a team medal. She won the all-around in 2016.

That’s fine and all, it’s a bad analogy. The childish arrogance of those trying to reduce the greatest American gymnast of all time to a “quitter” has caused me to make some bad arguments. But it’s going to be over their heads regardless, so I’ve stopped trying.
You chose to make the bad arguments and your arrogance has been on full display. Sorry you can not handle a different opinion from yours.

It’s because she’s a confident young woman who has publicly embraced her GOAT status. No one here would have thought twice about it if one of her middle-of-the-pack teammates did the same thing. It just would not have been on the radar at all.

Comparing her to Ben Simmons 🤣 clown statement.. she's won how many gold medals and Ben is straight garbage. Anything you said is void with such a dumb comment.

I will say this, it is a bit egotistical for her to label herself the GOAT. Has anyone since Ali actually called themselves that? Sure, people debate the GOAT in other sports, but has Jordan ever called himself the GOAT? I don't recall that happening. For that alone, she shouldn't be surprised by the criticism, even though I agree it is unfair.

PSA. Don’t say “y’all” anymore. It’s racist.

Love that this is being thought of as a difference of opinions. When I say “here’s what biles said happened, here’s what other gymnasts have said, here’s what her coach said” and the response is “what a load of ********, she’s just scared”, that’s not a difference of opinion, it’s just one side refusing to engage with anything other than conjecture. So yeah, it’s frustrating.

Wasn’t comparing her as an athlete to Ben Simmons but I will stop bc I’m trying to avoid this subject but got sucked back in.

I don't base my vernacular on what other people find acceptable.

Unless it's my mom. She still scares me.

But nobody else.
Everyone from the Russian immigrant community to the Vietnamese community says y’all where I live. Wonder how many southern zoomers will force themselves to say “you all” now though lol.

I have no idea if she’s actually referred to herself that way (she may have, I dunno), but she definitely acts like it’s on her to push the sport forward. Honestly, after all her accolades, if she downplayed it, it would seem disingenuous and annoying. Like, cmon now.

While you were in the two hours of "high" state, sure. That six hours of zombie mode, however...

Idk. I’ve done a lot of drugs. Adderall isn’t one that gives me a bad comedown. In college it’d keep me going for 6-8 hours. I’d be anxious coming down but I took a Xanax for that. You know what, just ignore me here lol.

I just wish Mrs. Biles and her family would leave this thread so we could talk about football. Like Perry's commitment for instance. What does the RF think about his fit with the new D scheme?
As defenses evolve the hybrid LB/S type bodies will become more valuable than the old B Gap to B Gap pluggers. This kid gets up to 220-225 he will fit that role.
