They beat the absolute dog sh*t out of us last year,, and about beat us with a WR playing QB the year before.. They're better than us right now and will be the next couple of years too unless one of these QB's set the world on fire.. to say otherwise makes you sound like a Kentucky basketball fan talking about Vol hoops
I would take that bet….. they scored 10 points on Missouri and beat Vandy by 3 last season while winning 4 regular season games…. WGWTFA

Maybe I'm just being homer vol like usual, but I don't understand the clinging to 6-6. First, the schedule isn't very hard, but second, there is talent on this team, especially more than teams we'd have to lose to in order to have that record. We're thin at certain positions like LB and TE, so a couple injuries there could hurt us, but I don't see it.

It's especially strange that the VQ staff constantly speaks to how much we have upgraded this coaching staff at basically every position, and then still say we're going to struggle to become bowl eligible. I don't believe that. If we get QB play, which Heupel always does, we won't do worse than 7-5, but I'd put it more at 8-4 to 9-3. The schedule is just really favorable.

You’re one of the bad Vol fans.

Troll? lol I don't need a history on the rivalry, thanks... but you may need a refresher.. correct me if I'm wrong but Bowden was their QB when they played us in 2019 (a WR) when we needed a goal line stand to hang on to win... Thank god for HT that game... btw JG came off the bench to throw for two TD's or we would have lost then too.. and for the record, even if JG didn't throw 2 picks last year and have a costly fumble, and Shrout the one interception, we still lose that game by two scores.. so forgive me if I think they're better than us right now.. maybe if you pulled your head out of your ass and took your orange glasses off, you could see reality... hopefully you're right but these teams are more evenly matched than they ever have been.
You literally said that we lost. We didn’t. And you said that they were way ahead of us. Now you are saying that we are evenly matched. Get your story straight. We are the better program. And I am not worried about winning this year. We have a bye before them this year.

We're gonna drop-kick UK this year.

Yep.

There is zero reason BG, South Alabama, TN Tech, South Carolina, and Vandy shouldn't be wins. That is starting out with a baseline of 5 wins.

Surely there are two more wins somewhere on the schedule between Mizzou, Pitt, KY, and Ole Miss.

7-5

I would be good with that. 6-6 should be worst case if this coaching staff is competent.

Kentucky was ass last year, they beat us because we had the worst HC in the country. I think we upgraded by default. It's no gimme, but Vols should win.

After reading all the Joe Milton back and forth on this board, I finally sat down and watched his "Every snap" videos on youtube for the Minnesota, Michigan State and Indiana games. I have to say that I came away very impressed. Great footwork, feels pressure, can throw on the run, see the field, throw receivers open and showed good touch when he needed it. And maybe most importantly, Milton seems to do a good job of keeping his emotions in check. Only negatives were some accuracy issues, usually pressure related (also had quite a few dropped balls), and tries to force too many passes into coverage. I don't think the accuracy thing is a big problem because he also made a lot of great throws into tight windows. Justs needs to learn when not to throw off balance and a little better judgment knowing when to pass and when to use his legs, mainly things that come with experience.

I was thinking Bailey was the favorite to start, maybe he is, but Milton looks like a potential game changer to me, and whoever let him get away from Michigan might have made a big mistake.

I guess those of us that have watched Tennessee get blown out at home by Vandy, Kentucky, Missouri and Georgia State, and play cut-throat, down to the wire home games against App State, UMass, and Troy (among others) in the last decade have reset our expectations.

I can completely understand viewing our schedule as favorable, but I’m not sure after the off-season we had, our 3-7 season last year, new coaches, new system, lots of new players and the cumulative results of the last 13 years, that I can set my baseline expectation at Josh Heupel blowing it out of the water in Year 1.

I’m not being a NegaVol. I just honestly don’t expect it to happen. I think 6-6 is a very good first year.

Too bad the facts aren’t on your side. Our basketball record against UK the last 5 years is better than their football record against us.

Barnes is 8-6 against UK...Stoops is 2-6🤔
