To be honest, I think Maurer could finish this QB competition soundly in last and still not transfer.

Not sure what to make of that. On one hand, it definitely shows the kind of school loyalty people around here admire. On the other hand, do you really want a scholarship QB on the team who is doesn't make starting a priority? I mean it isn't that he isn't the starter.. It's that he's literally 4/4 as a veteran at this point.

Not sure. Feels like it might be in everyone's best interest if he turned elsewhere, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

We have never seen anything like this O. After the last several years with Pruitt our O was like a statue. We finally get an O with excitement and is going to score a lot of points. We got the speed at WR just need a QB to step up. I hope Milton does becomes that guy and is a stud. He has all the tools and talent. He will not be easy to bring down even when there is pressure.

It really sounds like it's a 2 man show at QB. It will either be Milton or Hooker.

Been a lot of hype last few years that HB was the future, then he shows out in the
Spring. Have confidence in the staff to manage a QB competition. Not surprising fan experience would color expectations.

* Edit: coaching staff, not VQ staff.

I think there was some selective reading involved over the last three seasons when it comes to JG's practice abilities.

What we heard was "JG has been consistent in practice". What they said was "JG has been the most consistent QB in practice."

I have zero doubt JG was the best QB we had this time last year. HB and Shrout were still too green, Maurer was Maurer, and there sat our 5th year QB.

Yes, HB and Shrout out played him at times last year. But only marginally so and with a small sample size. Long story short, Weinke should literally wake up everyday holding his head in shame for how our QB room was developed while he was here.

The hype for HB has been mainly from this fan base…..it’s been reported that neither staff was that high on him….. I have no idea why they don’t seem to like him more.

The thing with Hooker, imo he was viewed as the safer option aka best at the time. Hes a good runner that can play ball control, but if Milton can hit the deep play consistently then it's his to lose imo

I’ll be ok with Hooker, HB or Milton. They all have parts of their game that are intriguing. The spring game isn’t tailored for a QB like Hooker because it takes his best weapon which is running out of it due to QBs being ruled down at touch. I was more excited for HB and Milton admittedly but whoever of those 3 wins I will support. Credit JG for hanging tough and giving it his all but I am so glad not to see him trot out there. I’d prefer not to see a rotating QB carousel though. Just one time I’d like to see a guy come in and be the solid star QB we’ve needed for so long.

Thank god for HT that game... btw JG came off the bench to throw for two TD's or we would have lost then too.. and for the record, even if JG didn't throw 2 picks last year and have a costly fumble, and Shrout the one interception, we still lose that game by two scores.. so forgive me if I think they're better than us right now.. maybe if you pulled your head out of your ass and took your orange glasses off, you could see reality... hopefully you're right but these teams are more evenly matched than they ever have been.

we need to temper expectations. once we get this NCAA ******** behind us, we'll be much better off.
