Premier League back in action. Man U up tomm.
Will be cool to see Lukaku with Puli. Hopefully he doesn't lose PT though. He's so young, just needs to be racking up PT anywhere (EPL/La Liga/Bunda, not saying drop down).

Speaking of Pulisic, World Cup qualifiers next month too. Nashville hosts game 1 the Saturday after the UT opener. I'm so tempted to juke out from Manchester for 6 hours and catch that game.

Man, wish that US Rugby or EPL would play more games (any games) stateside. WTH does NFL and MLB have to try only sport to cross ocean?

If our Defense can actually get off the field on 3rd down it’s automatically an upgrade especially if they do it by covering a slant then it’s an absolute massive upgrade
I still can't get over how bad Pruitt's 3rd down defense was. It was embarrassing.

SEC Opponent 3rd Down Conversion%
2018 - 11th
2019 - 12th
2020 - 12th

I think the WC qualifier is on Sunday. But really tempting either way!

Right? It was atrocious and you knew they were going to just toss it to the inside and our guys still couldn’t stop it….

EPL is starting to "get it" imo. La Liga may be too. They've ignored the US as a viewing market for quite awhile, finally started to make smaller investments to even show games here, and now more.

Games...maybe one day, once viewership is bigger.

Was expecting AP to come off the top rope today with a QB1 prediction based on the scrimmage. Super weak that he hasn't.

Slightly concerned if that's because no one is pulling away. Was really hoping one guy would seperate and there would be an obvious choice. Maybe Tuesday.

Could this be a good thing?? Competition is good If you have a coaching staff that knows how to deal with it.

I think we have that now.

Good call. Sept 5th a Sunday.

Makes it even worse for me. At least Fri/Sat we have shows till 4am. Sunday they shut down The Farm at midnight on the dot.

Man it would be cool though. Luckily there's a good chance a real WC game will be in Nashville or Atlanta in 5 years.

Von Pearson wasn't bad. Mychal Rivera, Dan McCullers, Maurice Couch, Byron Moore, Sentimore, Chris Weatherd, Owen Williams were all decent or better.
Rivera was a good TE, McCullers was a giant who took up a lot of space. The rest are pretty much JAG's. We're going to need better from Byron Young.

Gives me more confidence in these coaches evaluation of players. It appears that they did an excellent job of filling holes. I am getting really excited about the D more than I am the O cause I know Hype will have our O going by game 1.

One thing I saw the other day talking about the EPL is that their weekend games start during the afternoon there, but early in the morning (6/7 am) in the US before college/NFL football and are “prime time” in Asia, which is a HUGE market for soccer. It’s almost a perfect television storm for them.

One thing about Pitt, which some have tagged as a "must-win" or pivotal game, is how unique their defense is.

This is another reason I'm not looking at Pitt as a strong indicator for the rest of the season. They play (to a fault) almost exclusively cover 4/quarters. I remember watching Pitt games where they'd be getting beat up in the passing game...but Narduzzi never bent on his philosophy. It seems, at least over time, this has paid off for them. Climbing from mid-bottom of the ACC to #3 in scoring defense the last 2 seasons (though they lost quite a bit off last year's defense).

Point being - we aren't going to see this defense much at all the rest of the season, outside a few situational plays. They play such a unique defense, I just don't think it will be a great indicator either way of how the offense does. Similar to facing a triple-option offense.

Fwiw, Hype put up 34 vs them in 2019 and 45 in 2018. Granted, with a more well-oiled machine, but it gives confidence.

The Pittsburgh Defense: It’s Cover 4, Not Man

You guys know what I want this year? I want all the excessive celebration flags. All of them!

Don’t even care let them boys enjoy all the TDs we will be putting up.
Ole The U style! Hated them when they did it but I also hated Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. You get old enough and you remember greatness fondly in retrospect.

Thanks for this. Doesnt hurt that they lost a 3rd and 4th round pick on that DL and Hamlin the safety whos with the Bills now. Still a real solid team though.

How could he actually be this bad? All I can come up with was he was determined all the players were going to play like they were all 5*s on the nation's leading defense instead of taking into account strengths and weaknesses.

They weren’t fundamentally schooled but they made up for it by being exhausted by the end of the first quarter…courtesy of our offense.
