Benadryl.
I’ve never given him that.. I hear they can react in different ways.. i may get some to put up for late nights like these though. I gave him this cold/cough stuff that usually knocks him out, but nothing.. also cranked a humidifier up, gave him an extra pillow to keep his head even more elevated, used Vicks, used Flonase, turned the air down.. I’m just along for the ride at this point I think

Mine was $1400 before getting my 15% discount for jumping through hoops to get said discount. $1200 after discount. My family is my 39 year old wife, 11 year old daughter, and me at 45. All 3 healthy. Absurd premiums, and our deductible was $6750 per person/$13k family. Ludicrous! We finally cancelled a few months ago and got catastrophic insurance. I’m tired of giving them all of this money and then still having to pay out of pocket when we go to the doctor for a check up or something.

Mine is through Farm Bureau (UMR) so it’s not some no name company.

You aren’t alone. It’s outrageous what the system has become.

My little six year old is up coughing his head off from allergy congestion/drainage and I’ve done everything I can think to do… drives me nuts when he feels bad and can’t sleep.

Have you every sliced up an onion and put some of the slices on his bare feet and then put socks on him? I know it sounds crazy, but I've done it for my kids when they've had similar symptoms and more often than not it's worked and at least helped them get some rest.

Really?? Can’t say I’ve ever heard of that

Ha!
6’1” 185 biology badass here.

In Kinesiology, I was that little smart guy that keeps screwing up the curve. After 2 exams, I went to the professor and asked that he remove me from the curve calculations. ( I was an undergrad teaching assistant in Human Anatomy, so I already knew all the Kinesiology stuff) Not bragging, I volunteered to be an undergrad TA because it was required for all Nursing and Therapy majors. 🤠 Sneaky smart, but bashful as all get out…😂
I almost did that in a fisheries course. I was a soil science student though. My dad was a fisheries biologist and his advisor was the professor, so I was doing pretty good because I learned that stuff growing up. I ended up tutoring the wildlife&fisheries students lol.

Find a comfortable spot on the couch where you can sit up but stretch out and hold him, and settle in for the night. Will be spotty sleep, but if he’s dealing with drainage, sitting up will help the cough, and he will sleep better if he’s curled up with you.

Also, at six yrs old, you don’t have many opportunities ahead to just hold onto him. You might not get much sleep, but it’s worth it.
