Apparently that was a key brick in Butch's evil plan to lull the rest of the conference into a false sense of security before pouncing the following year for a 15-0 National Championship season. If only we had given him more time to implement such pure genius. It is our fault for not trusting, really.

Firing Butch wasn't the problem. The program was in shambles. No discipline, no strength and conditioning. He had to go. The problem was who we hired.

Yeah I’m not sure how @BruinVol is making a case for keeping Butch after an 0-8 SEC loss record. Any Coach that has that kind of record at Tennessee deserves to go. I mean it’s the worst SEC record we’ve ever had.

That’s reasonable and I fully admit may be correct BUT we weren’t able to hire a good coach in fact we hired a worse one AND butch had won at the highest level our program had in a decade so maybe he had earned the right to fix those glaring undeniable issues. Like Brian Kelly did after his one awful year at ND where he clearly had the same kind is issues

I don't think we should even do that much. Maybe we stay at a lower grade of Hilton hotel the night before games. That is about it though.

Problem with Butch is he had lost locker room. He lost the media. He lost credibility in coaching circles to the point that it would be hard for him to hire anyone to help save the job. He burned nearly every bridge possible to try to save himself. People were starting to talk and leak bad stuff on him and his program. There is a reason he was coffee intern for so long and it wasn’t for not trying. Look at Arky st he had 3 OCs already and not even coached a game
