Boys, let’s pivot for a second. I’ve had gas grills my entire adult life. We moved and sold the cheap one we had. My default plan was to get a Weber now and maybe a Kamado Joe in 1-2 years. But then my buddy bought a pellet grill and loves it. What’s the consensus here?

Cuisinart makes some pretty awesome gas grills if that's your cup of tea. I have a Weber kettle for charcoal grilling and a Masterbuilt smoker for the slower types of cooking. Works pretty well for me.

I have a Kamado and no pellet experience so I’m biased. I wanted the Kamado because I don’t want the hassle of gas. It takes more effort to regulate temps compared to gas, but the charcoal and wood makes such great flavor and the Kamado retains heat so well making for some very even cooking.

In two months, among other things, I’ve done bbq ribs, spatchcock chicken, and last weekend was a reverse sear ribeye. Better than restaurant quality results and I’m a total noob.

Pellet grills look awesome though. So does the Weber Smoky Mountain. Lots of good choices out there.

I have a Green Egg and love it. Any type of kamado would be great.

I can vouch for the Cuisinart. Mostly what I use for simple grilling…tho I have a Weber. I have both an Oklahoma Joe traditional smoker and a Pit Boss pellet smoker…mostly go with the pellets and am happy with it.

Webber . Never can go wrong with a Webber. I have had the same Webber for 10 years. Still going like a champ.

Pellet smoker is one thing, they are really convenient and amazing.

For a grill, Weber is always the way to go.

Obviously if you want a combo 2 in 1 you go with the pellet smoker that can act as a grill, but a pellet smoker will not be as good of a grill as a true grill.
