Why is it bad to question it though… the guys who went to Oklahoma were in the transfer portal to be recruited…whereas HB never was in the portal and if what Basd is insinuating is true how the hell are we not turning Florida in for that. That’s all im saying but carry on no harm no foul
I was speaking of just the past in general. It’s hard to expect things to get better when us younger fans have been sold that dream since the day they pushed Fulmer out and have failed disastrously to deliver on it.We aren’t awful though. Going into last year there was high expectations. No reason to be negative. This year we have a new HC who has had consistent top 10 and top 5 offenses and led a team to a 12-1 season in his first year. No reason to be negative. Past results have no bearing on future outcomes. Does that mean it happens immediately? No. But the only reason to be negative is bc you live in the past and are varying degrees of myopic. Like I said. It’s a dispositional thing. Plenty to look FORWARD to.
Chin up, youngster. It could be worse. You could live in Alabama.Catbone is in my age range. I’m 25, and I’ll give you some tidbits on why were so “negative”
Last time we won an SEC Title, I was 2 years old.
Last time we appeared in an SEC Title game, I was 10 years old.
We’ve beaten Florida 5 times in my entire lifetime.
We’ve had a losing season almost 50% of the time since I was born.
We have a reason to be negative.
I think that's literally the point being made. When a spark of a reason to be negative was presented, you fanned the flame. That's not because Vol football has been bad in your/our lifetime. It's because you're (and Catbone) choosing to squeeze the negativity out of things.I was negative about our chances to retain Vitello if LSU called. That’s about it. Go through my post history and show me where I was negative about basketball or baseball in any context other than the UCLA debacle and the LSU coaching search.
If that were the case, you’d see me bitching a lot more about Rick Barnes’s teams the last couple of years.I think that's literally the point being made. If the past 15 years have led you to have no positive outlook on the present and future of Tennessee sports then do yourself a favor and stop subjecting yourself to it. Go find joy in your life with something else, because it seems this ain't doing it for you.Fair point. I just didn’t want to do the math tbh lol
I haven’t been negative about this season. Just our overall outlook.
If I was positive about the last 15 years, I’d be being disingenuous to myself. I can’t help how I feel.

I just don’t get the negativity when we have a brand new coach who brings an exciting offense which, if it clicks, we could beat all but maybe 2 teams this year. Just like OM last year. We should be fun to watch every week this year. I’m not just a blind optimist homer. I feel like 7-5 is most likely and would be fine with 6-6. You can be a “realist” while not coming across as a disaster artist.I was speaking of just the past in general.
