Don't remember seeing this.

Did they really snub their starting QB who was also the Heisman runner-up that year?

If we’re going strictly off this snapshot (unless OU was playing 6 man football in 2000 and I missed it) I’m assuming there are a few more guys not listed there from that team… Perhaps a video of that would be a better representation? Lol

Edit: I see now that it’s a scrolling list in alphabetical order, still, could it be offense and defense? Or maybe someone just screwed up.

From multiple OU fans on another board - Apparently there was some bad blood between Heupel and Oklahoma after Stoops let him go. Heupel felt like he was the scapegoat. Apparently the offense that year was performing well enough, but the defense was not. Bob decided to can Heupel instead of his brother Mike who should have been let go to save face that they were making changes. The same posters said Heupel to OU won't happen because of how that went down - which is perfectly fine with me.

Quotes from the OU posters on Heupel leaving for OU:

"He took a lot of the heat when our teams weren’t as good as expected, however, mike stoops was the DC and the offense was light years better than the defense. Bob Stoops fired him and hired Riley. In all honesty, mike should have been cut lose long before JH. Heupel won’t come back to any type of OU function, even the 2000 NC banquet this past summer."

"There’s exactly 0% chance that happens. Neither side has many good feelings towards the other"

Good I hope Heup uses that hate to take all their transfers and commits.

I wouldn't worry about any of our marquee HCs leaving this year. UT leadership has met with them individually, asked each one what they need to make their programs successful and worked with them to create a plan that gives them the resources they need. They all know that stability is important to UT, and UT has committed to all sorts of things-- staff enhancements, facility improvements and longer-term contracts. We want our coaches to make short lists-- it means they're doing well. They're also happy at UT and know that UT is invested in keeping them.
Boom!!! LA Vol knows. No need to worry. Sit back with your popcorn and enjoy all of the coaching chaos, because we aren’t a part of it.

It truly feels like things are starting to change on the hill.

That list may have been scrolling. You can see the faded beginning of letters underneath the top player name. I bet he was first on that list. Would need to see a video.

Like at Dollywood, the coaching carousel is much better when you can watch instead of ride.

USC - Riley
FL - Napier
OU - ??
LSU - ??

Any other big HC openings expected? Particularly any other SEC coaches in the crosshairs?
