Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

I heard a discussion about Elliott on the radio today and they were talking about him turning down UT last year and why he would do that and then end up going to UVA or Duke. The commentator said that he and Danny White are good friends but that he didn't feel comfortable coming into a very muddy situation with a new administration and the whole Pruitt thing still fresh in the air. One of the guys laughed and said, "yeah, if he were offered the UT job today, he'd come in a heartbeat".

IMO, I think Danny White wanted Heupel the whole time. I am sure he talked with most of the names we heard and may have pulled the trigger on Franklin or another big hire, but I think he always wanted CJH.
As CJH’s first season has gone, thank goodness. I’m careful about my wording, I wouldn’t want to give @Jack Burton any reason to call me out at some point. He’s been leaving his negavol card at home lately.

UCLA board pretty much guaranteeing that Chip Kelly is about to get snatched up by Oregon. All signs pointing that way.

Oregon intends to hire UCLA's Chip Kelly as its next head football coach, sources have confirmed.

It was originally reported by ESPN that Oregon was making a push to bring back Chip Kelly (GO HERE).

It was reported earlier in the day that Oregon asked for permission to speak to Kelly, and since then various sources have indicated that Oregon is proceeding in its effort to re-hire the former Oregon coach.

The response from Kelly is unknown. He was on the road in Arizona recruiting for UCLA, but conspicuously lacking a UCLA shirt while in the home of five-star defensive lineman Anthony Lucas of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral.

Sources have indicated that negotiations between UCLA and Kelly to work out a new contract have hit an impasse. Kelly's original five-year contract is entering its final year beginning January 15th. One source said that, while Oregon was moving forward to secure Kelly, UCLA hasn't put up much resistance.

UCLA fans aren't really that upset about it lol. They seem to want Aranda, there's been buzz in the past that he might look that way if offered. Dunno about now though...

They also want Tom Herman

Oregon fans are pretty bummed that they're zeroing in on Kelly. Dance with the one that brung ya, I say.

The ethereal smell of a crisp morning in the forests out in the Rockies is lost to me...we were in the Calaveras Sequioia grove and my wife was describing it, I was really sad. Another thing I love is the salt air of the ocean...couldn't smell that either 😢

I can smell grilling, but not as strong as normal, but at least a little...I can't smell baking bread at all and that is probably my favorite smell of all..😢

All that being said, I am thankful to God that it didn't kill or otherwise severely harm my health...at least I can still walk in the woods and on the beach 💝
Fortunately for me, it came back fairly quick. Hopefully, yours comes back eventually. But I had similar thought in the first few days. Interestingly, my wife was born with no sense of smell. You go to the same thoughts as with those that are blind. Is it worse to have it and lose it? Or never have it to begin with? Most people look at me when they find out she can’t smell and say “Oh, you can fart and she won’t know”. The first thing I thought when she told me was “You don’t know what a summer rain on fresh cut grass smells like.”

That’s so sad for her and you. Mostly for you because you’ve had that joy and know she can never have that.

Oregon: "May I please have permission to ask your wife out on a date? I really think she and I would hit off and we could be really good for each other."

UCLA: "Well, I don't like it, but out here on the west coast we don't subscribe to the western patriarchal constructs. If my wife wants to go on a date with you and possibly become your wife instead then who am I to stop her. I am gonna look around at other wives and see which one I would like to go after in case my wife decides to leave with you, Oregon."

Oregon: "Ok. Thank you for understanding, UCLA. I know how you feel since my last wife just up and left me for Miami. They didn't even ask if they could ask her out. They aren't civilized like you and me, UCLA."

Miami: “Look at you little boys with your one wife at a time ‘civilization’. That’s cute. Get yourself two wives at once, then we can talk.”

Got a serious question. Today is my 14th day since COVID and have been doing great for over a week. Today after being out I took a shower and barely made it back to my recliner. Moments later I started having chills and about an hour later 100.1 Temp. Have any of you guys heard this before and what the heck do I do? My wife did the same thing. Little discouraged after battling and getting better.

“Let’s pay the players. They deserve everything. They don’t get anything. These poor young men are being taken advantage of……blablabla.”
This will ruin college athletics sooner rather than later. It’s been talked about adnauseam, but it’s the truth. Unfortunately, we can’t put the cat back in the bag. Better get used to it
I kinda believe college athletics has been ruined for some time now-----I know the game of football has been ruined by rule changes to "protect" certain players. Football is a tough sport---let the tough guys play the game the way it was intended.

Idk bro. That's kinda scary. I'm a pansy, I'd probably go straight to the ER or Dr's office asap.

My symptoms went away after 12 days and came back on the 14th day. I was then sick for an additional 4 weeks. I hope that is not he case with you but it is not uncommon for symptoms to return.

Also the hardest position to "hit" I mean is Ty Simpson ranked 3rd nationally that much further ahead of Tayven Jackson at 12th?

I mean HB was the 3rd nationally rated Pro QB and he's not interested in staying around to compete for the starting job here.
Was Bamas Young that further ahead of the guys ranked 5-6 spots below him? Easy answer, Yes. What’s Sabans success rate with the last 5 highly rated QB’s he’s signed?
If he’s a take for Saban I’m thinking he’s pretty darn good

Agu: Lead
Williams: Lead
Tolan: Too close to call

Pearce: Lead
Scott: Trail
Gilbert: Too close to call
West: Much closer than ppl realize.
Smith: that one boils down to numbers imo
Evans: trending to no visit is last I heard
Moten: won’t sign early
Jacas: Vols Deep in it
Verse: way to tough to call

From the Oregon board:
It's almost like a smoke screen----Lane is interested in Oregon---Phil Knight is interested in Lane but Oregon says not so fast as others are in front of him. All the while, they're probably ironing out the details with Lane in the background-------kinda like a spy movie :):)

What a bad example…Alabama has NFL talent everywhere, legit ANY quarterback that has started there has had success.

But you also highlight the problem, Ty chose Alabama before ever seeing Josh Heupel coach a game here. I mean I’d love to flip him, but the question was where would you throw a million for a NIL. And to me if ya already got a high rated QB & a returning star I’d rather take the more instant impact player.

Question for the crowd:

Should I roll with James Conner as my Flex or put in Kareem Hunt/Van Jefferson?

Hunt is rumored to be getting a good share of snaps this week against the Ravens, but James Conner has been a workhorse lately and is 3rd in the league in TDs. Chase Edmonds might be returning, which is why his predicted points is so low.

If Edmonds is active, I’d probably go Jefferson. Rams passing game has been huge for me this season.
