Question for those with more experience in recruiting changes:
Do you see any way when all the dust settles from this ridiculous coaching carousel that we end up near a top 10 class?

I enjoy this forum specifically because most of you have watched this for a while and have a pretty good sense of probability when it comes to how recruiting cycles normally tend to work out. I know this is not a "normal" year. But, I'd love to hear some guesses at if we keep climbing or if we level off and finish near 15 or so. (Which I'm not at all disappointed in!)

If the numbers at 247 are correct, we have 19 commits and are sitting at the #16 class. 25 is the max, right? Is that flexible with the transfer stuff that's changed recently?

I guess I'm wondering what our max number of more recruits are, and how we expect that to impact our final standings...

Simple answer is definitely no.

A top 10 class - especially since number changes some years back - means you're basically at 50-60%+ bluechips. Our last one (2019? Had 13/25 players were bluechips - including a couple 5*s...). We're currently at 26% with only 4 4*s.

We would basically need all our last 13 recruits to be 4*s to have a chance, so no that's very realistic for this class. Top 20 certainly is and top 15 should be praised bigly.

But next year all bets are off.

We need to start a ranking service that factors in a team's high-school kids as-well-as juco & other transfers.

If we did that, I wouldn't be surprised if we hit somewhere in the top 10-15 range.

Sign 25, take additional 7 transfers for a total of 32.
Yeah 32 is the total limit, though transfer vs juco vs HS allocation is irrelevant. NCAA doesn't tell them how to use their signing spots or initial counters, just how many they get. Gaining the additional 7 spots are based off outgoing transfers, but they don't have to be replaced by transfers.

Which seems like a really good thing. At first I thought this would (again) just further exacerbate the transfer market. But if schools lose transfers and take more recruits, then maybe some balance will be restored and the wild transfer portal will slow down when supply (even moreso) greatly outpaces demand.

This makes no sense. You said we had the coaching and talent and, all things considered, the probability to win four. We nearly doubled what your expectations were and you don't find that impressive or encouraging?
Always humorous when posters argue with checkerboard: if you confront him with facts, he just moves the goal posts and continues to argue. He enjoys the attention it gives him. Always remember he considers Barnes a "meh" head coach. Board woould be better off is most folks avoid arguing with him (IMO)

Technically, there aren’t supposed to be deals offered to get them to a school. But we know it’s happening.
There should be regulations, like required enrollment time or you're not eligible for NIL until your sophomore year or you've been at the University for 1 full semester.

I think that's the nuance. I don't think there's anything wrong with a business discussing a deal to a HS recruit. But inducement is the line that isn't supposed to be crossed.

Imo a smart deal would be to say, "this is the sort of deal we could have for you...oh and just so you know we're working with specific areas so far...Knoxville...Wyoming...Alaska...Siberia... you don't have to end up at a specific school for us to do business, but we're only working deals in these markets right now" 😏

The bigger picture shows that it is not only impressive, it far exceeds any rational expectation. If we see the same improvement next year as we have seen in the 1st 12 months, this is a 10-11 win team.
This isnt, and wont be for a couple years. But the bigger picture is 10 is something to celebrate. Top 10 recruiting classes are something to celebrate. Right now we are in meh territory.
