Never knew that. I always assumed that they were all on scholarship. Still would much rather hear them play than the canned music.Your post makes me appreciate them that much more.
Thank you very much for the information.

Agree with this. For season ticket holders, there is a survey which came out yesterday from the SEC requesting feedback on the gameday experience. I used it to provide this very feedback regarding the increased piped in canned music and reduced POTSB. I doubt it matters much but it is an avenue to complain.

I noticed tonight that YoutubeTV and Disney have until Friday night to agree to terms or all ESPN channels will be removed from YoutubeTV.

I have YouTubeTV. That would suck. What’s the next best service to get if they can’t agree to terms?

That means there's a 50% chance AP doesn't know wtf he's talking about.
He hears things. So, if there wasn't a chance before, and AP is now saying 25%, then it's really more likely he stays. If it's always been up in the air, and it's down to 25%, might as well call it 0. JMO

I think what people are concerned with recruiting such as myself is failing to close on defensive recruits. Offensive this is a very good class but we are 18th because our defensive recruiting bringing the class down. We really need help on defense depth and not sure we got what we need. Need to find some transfers with multiple years
Bingo. This is exactly how I feel. Our class is rated 18, which is a great spot, IMO. But it's also very one-sided. Our highest rated recruits are all on the offensive side of the ball. I'm not smart enough to figure out how to do this, but I'd be curious to see where our class would be ranked when ONLY looking at offense and then ONLY looking at defense. I suspect our offense would be near Top 10, but defense would be well down the list, into the 30's or 40's.

Serious discussion! Since both kiffin and JH achieved 7 wins in their first season at UT..who do you think would have had the most hype going into the next season?..

(this is also hypothetically speaking ) if kiffin did coach at least 1 more year here.so two years minimum who has the most hype?

Sidenote from your question since I've thought on this one lately...

I think CJH's 7 wins is way more impressive than Kiffin's 7 wins. Kiffy had an absolutely loaded roster in comparison to Heup's and also lost at least one inexplicable loss whereas Heupel beat everyone he should (convincingly) and won 1-2 that wasn't expected.

I’ve thought it has been incredibly slow and boring, but I haven’t watched Sundays episode yet, getting ready to start it.
I think they are trying to highlight the Cowboy lifestyle as much or almost as much as the story at times but still about as good as it gets on TV now.

One interesting note from the VQ podcast is that Hubbs and AP think the staff needs to cast a wider net earlier when it comes to recruiting.

I think that's a Captain Obvious statement by them, but important to remember that on top of being behind on the '22 class when they came in, there was a gigantic dead period and every meeting they had was on Zoom.

Question is, what does their net casting look like for the '23 class with all those barriers removed?

So down the stretch we came in 2nd on all of these guys?:

Tolan (LSU)
West (FSU)
Nolen (A$M)
Agu (Vandy (!!) )
Gilbert (Auburn)
Scott (Auburn)
Jones (Michigan)
Igbinosun (Ole Miss)
Pearce (we are 2nd to “seeing what else comes along before NSD”)
Probably others I am forgetting

And we hit on only Webb (ECU), J Williams (WVU), and D Williams (Houston); and maybe flipped a Tulane commit in Jacas (assuming we can hold off mighty Illinois).

I like the guys we got, but we just flat out failed to close in a meaningful way. The guys we got were not being heavily recruited by SEC level programs, the guys we failed on were. Frankly, we simply did not recruit at the standard that is required.

There can be no sugar coating failing this badly down the stretch, especially with the positive momentum we had throughout the season.

CJH must make changes immediately — whether on his staff and/or in his recruiting philosophy. Recruiting at a high level in the SEC is blood sport. We have demonstrated down the stretch that we aren’t prepared to win these tough fights.
Part of this is true. But, we got Kaleb Webb over Michigan and Justin Williams over AU. Those are high level programs. It’s defense that we’ve struggled to recruit. I think therein lies the problem

Depends on who you ask around here. Some say yes. Some get VERY upset if you mention this as a possibility.
Regardless, I’m not going to jump to any conclusions on the coaching staffs ability to recruit based off ESD. Still plenty of opportunity to fill needs through the portal and before NSD.

Well yeah. Especially if you're going to sign ZERO of the Top 12 players in the state, you're gonna have to start casting a MUCH wider net.

Nicotine is actually more addictive.
It’s easier to obtain. Much more physically and psychologically addictive. It’s just more socially acceptable.

Not a deadly withdrawal like alcohol. My Dad was an alcoholic, ruined his family relationships. However, his nicotine addiction is what killed him. Lung cancer. I have a significant family history of alcoholism on my father’s side, however I have lost way more family to tobacco related diseases.

From a healthcare burden standpoint, tobacco (nicotine) addiction has killed more people than all the alcohol and illicit substances combined. It’s killed more Americans than the total of every war we have fought in combined. The cost of taking care of the health related disruption caused by tobacco/nicotine/vaping costs billions annually in the USA alone.

Every addictive substance has its own highlights.
I started using skoal when I was 17. Quit when I was 32. That was a long time ago. Even the mention or thought of skoal still makes my mouth water. One of the hardest things I ever did.

Defense recruiting struggles because of Heupels offense?

Possible as that was an old stigma vs uptempo offensive teams but I would think what this defensive staff showed this year would make it enticing to play in this defense. Also plenty of snaps to rotate in on. Heupels last UCF secondary all were draft picks. Then they likely have put Taylor/Theo/Butler in same draftable positions.

IMO we are missing at the prime defensive positions that unfortunately require a certain investment and we are losing to two team with coaches or boosters willing to outbid the competition like FSU and Auburn.

Also to @Enki_Amenra
Can't debate like it's the same for everyone.
There's different vices and addictions for a reason. Your experiences, my experiences, don't mean anything to others' situations.

Already been open about my past.*For me*
-Quitting drinking was really hard for about 2 weeks.
-Still ZERO cravings for either pain med after years, no matter how long I go without needing them.

-Quitting smoking, the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, BY FAR. Only one that made me think of doing anything to stop the cravings.
No matter how many years pass, still can't be anywhere near someone smoking.
Yet, know people with that list in exact reverse.

It's NOT one size fits all, it's just not.
Yes.
