Man, those hires after Fulmer was fired were critical and we royally f’d it up and we’re going to pay the price for potentially several decades.
Coulda had Gary Patterson. Decided he was too much like Fulmer and that a 5-15 Raiders coach was the real ticket.

I will never forgive Mike Hamilton.

This win by Georgia means nothing for Tennessee (good or bad). Georgia and Alabama (as long as Saban is there) will continue to get the best players in the country, regardless.

I don’t think an elite recruit wasn’t going to Georgia because Kirby didn’t have a title and now they will.

Tennessee just has to get better from a talent perspective…I think they’re moving in the right direction from a coaching perspective, but still a long way to go.

Kirby already gets the best players in the country......more than bammer. Him winning changes nothing about where we are and what it will take for us to get there. We play both the bastards every year. I see your point, I just dont think this is awful.......its awful either way really.
I think he's a sorry coach--just good recruiter. Tennessee and Auburn have to play both of them, unless something happens when Texas and Oklahoma come.

I mean, I honestly don’t think we’d be that much closer if they’d lost. No recruit cared that we’d won a national title in 1998. They were and will stay a hot commodity.

This it didn’t matter win or lose. If anything you hope it makes them slack up some and several kids jump to NFL the ones that should and then those that jump too early. UGa and Bama going to recruit at elite levels regardless. They also recruit to different systems for most part. If we had Pruitt still then yes but this really has no effect on TN future

Only if he can recruit at this level
I remember how hot Tennessee recruiting was in the 90s/ early 2000s and all the NFL players we've had through the years. Knoxville will become a destination for the better players again. We've got the right coach and AD. Heup will get it cranked up around K-town.

Kirby has built such an insane roster. He won with a walk on at qb. Also, he called so many stupid flea flickers, end around, delays, and other slow developing plays that killed his drives. And they still won.
Because when their receiver got hurt their passing game was gone.
Took their top 2 getting hurt for Kirby to win but oh well that’s the way the ball bounce’s

I wonder if we will win the culture championship next year?
Made me LOL… people on here hate talking about star model but it couldn’t be any more clearer after the results Especially seeing our two rivals who recruit better than anyone outside of Ohio State nationally. We HAVE to get the players somehow. If not we’ll be owned by Smart for the next 15-20 years or more. Might beat Georgia and Bammer in an all time upset once a decade otherwise we have got to get the players

He’s not a good coach. He’s a slightly better Larry Coker.

But both of them have proven that all you really need is players and a couple of opportunities.

Remember folks people will try and tell you “STARS DONT MATTER” and those people are liars and they love to point at the few cases where INDIVIDUALS over achieve their ranking. The TEAMS winning all are 4-5 star loaded. Going to be a long time before we even sniff an SEC championship much less a real shot at a title. College football has allowed teams blatantly cheating before NIL ruin the entire product. Only 2-3 teams annually have a shot. There is no parity.

I’m not sold that either one understands how much the paradigm has changed and what it will take.

Recruiting is an enormous part of what it means to get a coach. And did you watch the defense the entire year? Kirby is a very good coach and just won a NC. He took UGA to a level Richt couldn’t
