The NCAA is an archaic, washed up entity that has 0 foresight. They arw literally cutting their nose off to spite their face. clearing the brush away from the forest. Grasping at straws.

Zero sense in this other than to grab last iota or spot of power before its completely snipped.
The NCAA is little more than a public-facing entity for the members - the universities themselves.

Any role change...will still end as the universities in control and wanting to control the players, as they have for decades. They now see the NCAA getting hit from all sides and the universities have lost power over the athletes. This is all a good thing and the NCAA may be in its most useful position...ever...actually (allowing the) empowering of athletes. A neutered NCAA aka neutered universities is the best thing we've seen for athletes...

...which just means the universities are all trying to find a new model and structure so they can regain their lost control.

It is all very ironic. As soon as players gained just a little bit of control and the NCAA was actually reformed and minimized...NOW, moreso than ever, people still want it gone. How odd...did the public ever care about the athletes? Idk. Either way, me thinks the universities have the public right where they want them.

Collectives are boosters

Not unless they give money DIRECTLY to the school. That is what defines a booster. I can give money to the school and I am a booster. I can spend money to use a kids name and likeness because he owns it and that is fine. I give money to a kid just to give to a kid, then I am in violation. They are in the wrong side of this and they will crumble if they push this crap and it will be time for them to be exposed. When big money is involved, be careful what may happen to you. Some bad people out there.

Saban is pissed because he got outdone. He was all smiles when discussing what BY was making in NIL money, which at the time, was considered astronomical. Spyre comes along and punts his ass out of the way and his little man syndrome kicked in. Now he wants to bitch and fuss. He was happy when he thought he could still buy his players. Now he sees it won't be as easy.

This is harsh and it paints a lot of teams with a broad brush but we all know that schools have been playing the system or outright cheating for as long as there have been sports. Does the fact that by cheating and or playing the system take away from what the teams have achieved on the field. I mean think about it in a sarcastic kind of way, we have rewarded people for winning national championships by cheating and the ones that play by the rules slowly fade to the wayside.

Speaking of which, is Lexington supposed to get hammered like we are around the Smokies? Ofc the one weekend they are calling for tornadoes...even in the frankin' mountains...we're gonna be in a yurt. Wife says no prob. Great place for tornado coverage 😒

Today is the 24th anniversary of Kerry Wood's 20 K game against the Houston Astros. I think this is the most dominate single game pitching performance of all time. He allowed only one hit and did not walk anyone. He was also a rookie and for the big part of the game, the Cubs were clinging to a one run lead. @ me if you want. I am right, though.

If someone has trouble grasping that Bama has been paying players for years, all they have to do is look at Pruitt. He did nothing here that wasn't common practice in Alabama. That's why he was so cavalier here.
Would be like if Pablo Escobar let his underlings set up a franchise elsewhere. But his men were Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas.

This is one of the few opinions about sports that doesn't require an argument. That WAS the greatest game ever pitched. Every metric they come up with to measure this kind of stuff confirms.

Kerry Wood's 20-strikeout game is the greatest pitching performance ever

Should’ve never took you off ignore. Back to it.

Max Scherzer

Scherzer's no-hitter against the Mets on Oct. 3, 2015................. His 17 strikeouts came thanks in large part to a stretch of nine straight strikeouts before getting Curtis Granderson to pop out to end the game. The righty allowed no hits or walks as the Nationals beat the Mets 2-0.

Very close 2nd...................

OK, can agree that Scherzer is a very close second. 😈
