Parker Ball - RS-Jr and a walk-on still far as I can tell
Braden Krivosh - RS-So and also a walk-on

Amari McNeil is listed with the DL, but was a two-way guy in HS. Redshirted last year

A closer look at our 2022 talent on paper –

There are 4 public services providing evaluation ratings, ESPN, Rivals, 247 Sports, and On3. On3 provides recruit ratings but in some cases they also provide ratings for players. For example, On3’s college ratings identifies Hendon Hooker, Cedric Tillman, and Byron Young as elite (>95). I looked at our roster using all of the services noted. We get a lot of love from all of them just not always in regards to the same player (composite). This is what I came up with, not including specialists and walk-ons. jmo.

On offense this year 81.82% (9/11) of our projected starters were rated blue chips by one or more of the public services and 45.45% (5/11) would be rated at what I would call elite. 67.57% (25/37) of our entire offensive roster was rated as blue chips by one or more of the public services. 35.14% (13/37) of all our offensive players were considered elite by one or more of the services. jmo.

On defense, again for our projected starters, 81.82% (9/11) were rated as blue chips by one or more service and 54.55% (6/11) were rated as elite. 60.00% (24/40) of all the guys we have on our defensive roster this year were rated as blue chips by one or more of the services. 27.50% (11/40) of all our defensive players were considered elite by one or more of the services. jmo.

Under this analysis our blue chip ratio for the 77 offensive and defensive players on our roster this year would be 63.64% and the total number of elite players on our roster would be 24. There have been at least 10 of our players named to preseason all-sec teams and at least 12 named to award watch lists (including specialists). The number of future NFL draft prospects on our roster could be in the 30’s range or higher. jmo.

Granted, I’m looking at these talent ratings on a selective basis but if one believed there was politics and perception involved in the ratings I think it could be argued we may need to win more on the field in order for the guys we recruit to get more composite love. jmo.

One last note – 23 of the 37 offensive players (62.16%) are redshirt sophomores or older, meaning this will be at least the 3rd year of their college careers. On defense 26 of the 40 players (65.00%) are redshirt sophomores or older. All total 49 of the 77 players (63.64%) on both sides of the ball are 3rd years or older. We have a lot of talent and a lot of experience, at least on paper, going into this year. jmo.

The culture is established. We have development and we have schemes. We have strong and widespread leadership. The buy-in is at a level we haven’t seen in a while. It seems everyone has an ownership stake in this team. The players all have worked extremely hard this offseason. For example, it’s been reported multiple times that our receivers were individually catching 10,000 jugs PER MONTH this summer. Their goal as a unit was 3,000 jugs per man per month. Tillman said he’d go into the facility at 10 o’clock at night and Hyatt and Calloway would be in there catching jugs.

Every position group has invested more time and effort this offseason than perhaps at any other time in their careers. Heupel and his staff are preaching to the players that they have to expect to win when they take the field this year. Caesar’s sports-book in June set our over/under for wins this year at 7.5. There has been a mad rush of money bet on the over. As of today you’ll have to bet 160 to win 100 on the over. It's almost go time. #GBO. jmo.

I don't trust those numbers from Butch's time here. I remember seeing a lot of these numbers talked about but it didn't translate to the field.

His FR year was very good.

And people overplay his SO yr, which wasn't bad by any means either...but obviously not as good and playing Williams was the right choice.

Any player that comes in and drops a 170+ qbr as a true FR and 155 as a SO is going to get quite a bit of adoration imo.

The question is how it translates to when you suddenly don't have the best offensive talent and HC and replace all that with lower tier people surrounding you. I'd say he'll still be a nice boost for them vs whoever he beat out, but he's probably in for a bit of a shock too.

JALIN HYATT, WR - With Cedric Tillman and Ramel Keyton holding the X and Z spots for the Vols, Jalin Hyatt should take over in the slot after what Heupel called an “unbelievable offseason” for the junior from South Carolina. If Bru McCoy is granted eligibility, he'll find his way onto the field as well but Hyatt is the deep-ball threat the coaching staff expects to have a breakout year.

JEREMY BANKS, LB - With Banks at the Mike and fellow senior Aaron Beasley holding down the Will spot, Tennessee is one of the few SEC teams with two veteran returning starters in the middle. Juwan Mitchell is too talented to keep off the field and he should see his share of snaps this season as well behind both.

CEDRIC TILLMAN, WR

HENDON HOOKER, QB - If he stays healthy, Tennessee has a shot to upend several big-time opponents on the schedule as long as this defense is serviceable and Hooker's not playing catch-up with his fellow offensive starters. Generating darkhorse Heisman buzz will happen for Hooker if the Vols exit September unbeaten with notable wins over Pittsburgh and rival Florida.

They were faster than Dooley's and Pruitt's team, but look at the names they are saying Squirrel is faster than in his 2nd college practice in college. I doubt he is Tyreek Hill/ Deshaun Jackson fast right now.
